Interesting Beginning To Week
« on: January 06, 2004, 06:11:49 PM »
Just wanted to share my weird beginning to my week.  It is related to bowling in some ways, and some ways not.  I am just too excited to not share the story.

Sunday night mixed couples.  Shoot 295 last game.  Stuck like a crazy man on the last ball.  Not very happy.  Very angry actually.  Weird now that I have a 294 and 295 this year.

Monday night - playing Golden Tee - in the gold division.  I have played this game for several years now and have never been able to cash in the gold division.  Very difficult.  Well, after playing 12 games, I finally shot my best 9 hole round ever.  Guaranteed at least $325 while only spending $60.  Much more pleased that last night.

Tuesday night men's league - house runs money pot where you have to strike in certain frames each game - have missed by one strike 5 times in the last month.  Well.  Strikes in the 2nd, 4th, 7th, and 9th.  Through the first game. 258 Made it through the first game.  Strikes in the 3rd, 5th, 8th and 10th.  228, whew, got the strikes in the right places fortunately.  Made it through the second game.  Strikes in the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 8th, and 10th.  248 and WHAM!!! Money in the bank.  A whopping $1900.00.  I am still so freakin' happy right now.

So, to make this long story longer, what sometimes starts off poorly can often go right very quickly.  Just thought I would share.

Who needs a 300 or 800, when I have a 294 and a 295!?!?!

Thanks guys.

Jay,
You are probably correct about cashing almost being more of an accomplishment.  I too, know of people who have lost wives, girlfriends, etc over the game.  Not good.  And it certainly does take a lot of time, money, and effort to be able to compete in the gold division.  Most of which I don't have any of.  Well, the effort has always been there.    Glad to hear there are other GT crazies on here.

Jay,

Good description of the game.  The only bad thing however is that IT has now done away with the National Championships.  Don't ask me why.  They have really alienated some of their best players over the last 6 months or so with some decisions that have been made.  I am sure living in Chicago, which is a hotbed of players, you might even hear some people talk about it some.

Bones,

Give it a shot anyway.  It is very addicting, but a lot of fun.  Not the most realistic game in the world, but fun nonetheless.

Jeff,

How did I know you were going to ask about the 295???    I was very unhappy since I stuck very badly and almost fell backwards.  I got nothing on the ball at all and left a washout with the six pin.  If I would have thrown a bad shot like I did on my 294 earlier in the year, I would have nothing to blame but myself, but with sticking badly, it just drives me nuts for not really being able to get a chance to throw a good shot.
