strange wrist ............
« on: May 27, 2009, 09:11:12 AM »
lately when i bowl, i have my wrist just send a shockwave through my whole body, and i lose strength, and feeling temporarily, and the ball just drops.

it seems to happen almost every time now, and after it happens, i always have it in the back of my head, and start trying to overcompensate, and end up holding onto the ball longer.

then the twinge hangs around for at least a day where my wrist gave out.

any experience or any clue as to what might be going on ?

it usually happens around the 3rd game, and will usually only happens once maybe twice when i bowl.

i do wear a brace, but it still happens

Double check your span, pitches, and bevel.  Something might just be pinching the nerve causing the muscle to give out.  It could also be the other way around where the muscle is becoming inflamed and is pinching the nerve sending the shock through your arm and losing feeling.

Whoa, sounds like a nerve injury.  If I were you, I'd see a Dr. and discontinue bowling until you do.  You don't want to make it worse and possibly delay any comeback from the injury.  Could be some inflamed tendon/ligament, or bone spur (calcium buildup) putting pressure on the nerve.

i know what it is, the shockwave reverberates from the inner diamond in the ball...they are so strong they have an almost magnetic field around them sending electric pulses through your fingers into your wrist thus shutting down your strength and feeling in your hand causing your hand to just drop the ball...i would try a different brand of equipment...or just use weaker diamonds that have less static electricity or more electrons...anyway just a suggestion....

slow news day cgUsuk
was that necessary, although funny, not relevant in the real world application of diagnosing possible wrist conundrum's.

Do any of your fingers get numb?  If so, you can tell which nerve is giving you trouble by which fingers get numb.

Let me know and I'll pass on the info my wife dug up (she's been having some real issues with her wrist lately).

only numbness would be in the base of the thumb only after the electric shockwave takes place

went bowling today, and kept my hand and wrist very relaxed / soft, and kept my hand in a mostly neutral position, and had no issues today

it's obviously user error, and i think it comes in to play when i have to much muscle tension in my forearm, wrist, and hand, and also when i try cheating w/ my hand positions on the approach

will keep posted

You're a cad for even suggesting such a thing.  Bowlerdawg is a married man, and we all know a married man would never do something so dispicable as "roughing up the suspect."
