I do as well. Still a club sport in Nebraska, but it is going strong. Starting our 3rd season next month. I wouldn't miss it for the world.

Good to see.  We are also a club sport and this is is our 4th year.  The second for me.  I'm learning I think more than the kids.  I spent some time in Las Vegas and spoke with Ron Hatfield about his program in Ohio.  There are several things to get ironed out to have a successful program and he helped with some of our rough edges.  Our biggest problem was communication within our district.  We've setup yahoo forums and web pages to help communicate better internally and with the parents.  A lot of the information that we did verbally is now going to be online.  This eliminates several phone calls a week.

BTW where are you guys located?

I wish I could, but I can't get out of work in time.  I get there be the middle of the second game, and I straighten out my brother and a few of the guys.  The programs in my county (Northern Jersey) are not what they used to be.  Basically, if you have 2 solid bowlers (190+) on your team, you're going to have a shot at the county title.  I wish it was cut-throat and like it was in college.

we are slef supported -fundraise all our own money-school will not give use any $$

I've met Mike Imes when I was in the St. Louis area earlier this year.  Everyone we met at St. Clair bowl were great.  I've been dealing with Mike Mineman over the summer.  From what I have heard they have a very good program.  It's all been part of our tour to get out and meet people involved in High School Bowling.  There were several people there being coached by Dick Ritger with the purpose of teaching and coaching high school students.

I teach at 2 high schools.  I'd love to get a program started where I am but don't really know where to get started.  I have at least one student who stops by my classroom 2 or 3 times a week to talk bowling during lunch.  He says there are a couple of other guys he knows would like to get a club started.

Club status should precede actual team status, I'm sure.  Gather interest then go for varsity status.  I'm not sure there is another High School bowling program anywhere else in the state.  I'd hate to have competition between the same 3 high schools all year.

It's frustrating!!!  We were offered a bowling ball for every high school bowler in our city.  Not our team or district but every high school bowler in the city.  All the districts rich, poor, minority or not it didn't matter every student would get a ball free!  Hundreds of bowling balls to be put in the hands of youth bowling! All the balls are valued at $35 and are used but in good condition. We were told we can not do that!  At first they said it violates YABA rules???  I read the rules and can not find it.  Then our officials said it violates UIL???  The supplier asked nothing more than a thank you if that.  They told me that they would otherwise destroy this equipment every year and would rather not see it go to waste.  So here sits the tools to help make better youth bowlers and they can not use it.

Frustrated

Bowling head quarters is very helpful and has tons of info for free.  They also have a guide book for $10 that is excellent.  It's great working with the kids.  It also has many things that are bad that need fixing, at least in Texas.  Communication with other people involved has been a major problem.
