BT Natural Bowling Clinic
« on: January 05, 2004, 03:02:41 AM »
Has anyone been to one of the Bill Taylor Natural Bowling Clinics?  There is one coming up in my area at the end of January and I am trying to decide whether to participate or not.  Any input would be very appreciated.

I have not been to a BT clinic, but I would jump at the chance, if it were presented to me, and if I could afford it.

How much does the clinic cost, and how many hours/days does it run?

Maybe at BTMs?

scroll down a little bit, sea . . . there are a few clinics listed.  cost looks to be around $180-220 based on average of bowler.

I am looking into attending the one in La Habra, CA.  I will be talking to the manager Rob Shan on Thurs during league to find out what the schedule will be.  I will report back on Fri.

My biggest problem is that if I do the clinic, then I probably cannot bowl in the US Open Pro/Am because they are on the same days.  Oh well, life is full of choices.

Well, La Habra 300 Bowl did not have any flyers available but they did have one information sheet hanging on the wall.  This is what I remember from the sheet:
1. Cost is average based ranging from $170 to $210 for averages from under 150 to over 200
2. The dates are Jan 30, 31 and Feb 1
3. Cost of clinic includes a one-on-one fitting session with BT and two-four hour on lane instruction sessions
4. The fitting sessions will take place on Fri Jan 30 between 6pm and 9pm
5. There are two squads on each of Sat Jan 31 and Sun Feb 1 and you get to pick one squad each day

I do not remember the squad times but one of the desk guys from the bowl is supposed to be emailing me the information flyer so I will post if/when I receive it.

Screw the Pro-Am, this guy although egocentric is one of the great minds of bowling. I would go in a heartbeat, I would rate him up there with Bill Hall and John Jowdy as one of the better teachers around. Good luck and please give a report after you have went and what you have experienced. Remember the most important thing to do when going to any clinic is to go with an open mind. Some stuff can feel and look very bizarre at time of teaching but where you end up after time is the key.Good luck and damn all you midwest and west coast guys get the good stuff. We have Ritgers in New England and if you don't tie into the pyramid scheme from his lessons the rest is pretty much crud.

Glenn Allison announced the clinic before league last night and pointed out that BT was at the bowl.  I decided to introduce myself and told him that I will be doing the clinic.  He was VERY friendly and talkative.  He measured my "pieces" and determined that my body is perfect for bowling (I thought, cool!).  But then after watching me throw a shot he said that "your pieces are right, but you are using them wrong" (not so cool) - "but don't worry, we'll fix that in the clinic".

Anyway, I paid my money and all in all the price is actually a good value.  There was a 10% discount for paying before 01/20 and another 10% "buddy" discount (two or more people signing up together).  The cost is average based and for my average the cost was $200 - 20% = $160 for a fitting and eight hours of on-lane instruction.

I will report back after the clinic.

I also emailed them about hosting a clinic on the east coast.  Maybe if they get enough email and interest this could happen.  I would also enjoy a Mo Pinel/Del Warren clinic!  Take care....JS
