I guess Cosmic Bowling doesn't make for the greatest league shot
« on: September 28, 2003, 10:35:02 AM »
Joined a Vegas league at a house I had never bowled league in and there's Glo 'N Bowl right before league.  They clean up the center pretty well, and re-oil the lanes, but the carrydown is a real factor.  I'm down about 10 pins from my book average until I can find something that works decently there.  Going to try something aggressive and possibly dull to cut through the carrydown as best as I can.  If only they'd spend a little bit longer and strip and re-oil the lanes before our league.  But hey, it's only a Vegas handicap league, what do you expect these days?  I'm sure this story is happening in centers all over now unfortunately.  What do some of you that may not have a ton of hand do to help with this condition?

Our Vegas league has a Cosmic bowling right before, and they do strip and oil.  The only thing I have against it is they dont clean very well.  People are always stepping on cake under tables, and such.  If you have lots of carry down, I would be learning to play straight up, if there is enough oil.  I would say screw the average, and just have fun.

Sorry, it's a handicap league, where a portion of your league fees pays for a room in Vegas where you bowl your sweepers.  Popular here in SoCal.

We have a league like this, too, except instead of glow bowling or anything like that before, they have kereoke starting at 8pm. Wouldn't be quite so bad if it didn't start before we finished. Nothing worse than hearing some horrid voice trying to sing some obscure song while trying to bowl.

Hey Aristotle, dont ya ever notice that its always the guys who sing way outa tune, or try to sing a 80's song like a girl lol.  And all you can say is my EARS ARE BLEEDING!

But to the subject, i bowled a saturday league last yr, and the house would oil the lanes for the JR Leagues in the morning then it was open bowling from 11am to 5pm, and our league started at 530pm, and we didnt get any new oil.  So we would encounter all types of conditions.  And normally my best ball was my Trauma ER sanded down to 400, and i could play almost anywhere with that ball.  But it was always a struggle, and yes my avg was down about 10pins or so from all my other leagues.
