Yep, shooting star, not shining. My bad. I do that often actually. LOL I have a brain block and continue to do the same thing over and over.

The Rotogrip Shining Star is pretty darn strong for a ball at its price point.

Shooting Star? Never heard of the Shining Star. Not being a troll, just curious.

Right now I'm seeing lots of the Roto Wrecker doing some amazing things when it is on a house shot.  the ball reacts to friction like there is no tomorrow.  To me, it is the Rising Star on steroids.  I prefer the Rising Star though because the skid-snap action is almost too strong.  That said, I still would like to pick up the Wrecker for summer leagues.

The RG Scream, and the Shout looked more overall hook then they were intended, also the misfits, tropical heats

Thanks everyone for the input. By the way to clear up some confusion. When I say low end I mean low price point but stronger than intended. I'm trying to decide what ball my cousin should get . He needs something stronger yet affordable. I've been trying to to force him to play straighter because his current ball is too weak and it's time for an upgrade. I'm thinking between wrecker, shooting star, rising star, grape vibe, and a cyclone. What are the motions on these balls like. Although I have a wrecker, I drilled it with a p4 weight hole which makes it jump off dry and rev similar to my old virtual gravity. Probably leaning toward a wrecker because my friend shot a 300 with his.

I have rolled all but the Grape Vibe and Cyclone.  Of the balls you've mentioned, I think the most bang for the buck and performance and your cousin's skill and style, the Shooting Star and Rising Star fit the bill, especially since they are being closed out.  These 2 balls are not skid flippy and make a nice strong arc down lane.  It also depends on the lane condition and of course his ball speed and the amount of hand he puts into his shots.  On a light to medium oil shot, the Rising Star is a great match with an average ball speed and rev rate.  The Shooting Star will give a similar look but it will need to medium to heavier oil as it will pick up the hook and roll sooner on light to medium oil especially if his ball speed is slower.  Sort of hard to know exactly what he would match up best without knowing some details about his skill level, etc.

Not sure what 'low price' for most people is, but for the price, I've always found Visionary Ogre line one of the best for the money, especially the Ogre Pearl.  Very strong pearl...probably stronger than it was meant to be.

Yep.  Shot my first 300 with that ball and eventually sold it. I really need to think about getting another one....really good pearl to say the least.

I'd be looking at a Wrecker or Shatter.  RotoGrip has some of the best low end balls price wise on the market.

1)Roto Grip Wrecker. Ball is HUGE for an entry level.
2)Cyclone with the shine knocked off. This is The One cover with a decent core
3)Freeze Solid.

Good luck with your research.
