Particle Pearl Help
« on: March 01, 2005, 06:04:46 AM »
Looking for something in the Particle Pearl Department. Thought about just buying an Impulse Zone and polishing it. Any Suggestions from the Nation or others?

If you want something strong, for med-heavy, I would recommend the Dynothane Vendetta Pearl Particle - good ball at a reasonable price.
Good luck with your choice.

I've been having great success using an Eraser Particle Pearl on medium conditions.  Another great ball at a really good price.

Ditto the sentiments on the Eraser Pearl Particle for medium conditions. If you need something a little stronger, I don't think you can go wrong with a Depth Charge or X Factor Ace from Storm or the Vendetta Pearl Particle from Dynothane.Plenty of pearl particle choices out there, it all depends on what you want it to do for you (meaning conditions you would like to use it on) and then decide on a layout and go...

Hammer saw blade... The coverstock on this ball is just unreal, I really am wanting to pick up a real and big deal due to how much I like this one!

I have thrown none of the mentioned. I will tell you what I have seen...

If you shot has a nice size puddle in the middle the Eraser Particle Pearl may skate a little much. A bunch of people bought this ball in our area thinking it would be like the Eraser which alot of people loved. It just didnt seem to fight oil at all. I know it wasnt meant to be an oiler---but it didnt help at all.

The Saw Blade I have seen thrown by 2 tweeners on a similar pattern and the ball was a monster. Again, staying away from all oil---but this ball seems to roll well off the dry---but not a huge overreaction.

I would love to say something about the Impulse Zone as this ball just looks like its a monster---but I havent seen enough of it on varying conditions to say anything.

Monster is an understatement. I have never seen a ball hook this much in the backend without over-reacting, carry from inside lines for me like this ball, and be able to play on anything from medium-heavy all the way to lighter oil and still have great carry! One of the best balls of the year imo.

When I got the EPP originally, it was well polished and reacted as you've mentioned.  Had it wet sanded to 1000grit and I have none of those problems now.  Again, this is for a medium condition, although our pattern is a little longer than normal...

You know whats funny guys, I appreciate your feedback. Ive been wary of buying one (even though by all indications it would be a sweet ball for me) because of what Ive seen. People in this area dont tend to pay much attention to coverstock preparation---they want to grab ball, throw ball, strike.

I echo what Nollster said...My EPP was shiny/skiddy with the box finish, tried it dulled about 800 and it was too strong...now I keep it about 1000 (grey pad lightly) and put just a touch of polish on it to get it through the heads for 3 games...Nice, smooth, consistent (as long as I throw it right!)
I really needed to throw it right tonight!!  They definitely did something with the usual shot -- couldn't find a good line until midway through the 2nd game.  Once I found it though, it was all good!!  Not bad for a $25 pickup on the E-bay!!

Sorry to hear that. Happens to the best of us. Atleast you made the adjustment. $25 pick up, nice!
