Suggestion(s) for a very angular Pearl needed
« on: July 06, 2009, 02:20:08 PM »
Let me start by saying that I know that ball motion is most influenced by release, coverstock, and drilling.

What I am looking for is the combination of core and covertock (in a current ball) that offers really good potential for a ball that goes long and makes an immediate left on the dry. I'm talking about a ball that has a very angular move as soon as it hits the dry and can cover a lot of boards in a short time. (Note: this ball will be for my brother; specs and game are similar to mine). Conditions will be medium oil house shot, 35-37' long. Ball specs will be 14 or 15 lb, 3 inch pin.

Company manufacturer unimportant - we'll consider all reasonable suggestions.
Thanks in advance!

I would suggest a One Pearl by Ebonite with the pin above bridge. Mine goes long and takes a nice left turn. Just another suggestion. Good Luck...

The 715 isn't pearl.  You may be thinking the 505.

Lane Masters Black pearl Reactive... Hands down the most angular ball I've thrown since the Storm Bolt...for me that is.

Wouldnt an Left turn make it skid flip? But anyway I'd say the one pearl also it is very angular

I agree with what has been said about the One Pearl.

I'd say:

Ebonite One Pearl
Ebonite Magic Touch
Hammer Hot Sauce Pearl

My Arsenal:
Rogue Cell (coming soon)
Bounty(4.5 x 4.75 Fresh 1000 Abralon)
Twisted Fury(5 x 4 500 Abralon + Reacta Shine)
Raw Hammer Pain(Leverage 1000 Abralon)
Blue Vibe(5 x 5 4000 Abralon + Reacta Shine)

since this topic is pretty much what i look for in bowling balls i will give this one a shot. here is a list from the balls that i have or have had that fit this topic. all balls drilled pin over the bridge for max lenght and snap on the backend.

Lane #1 Colbalt Bomb pearl
Lane #1 Chainsaw Massacre
Storm Street Rod pearl
Storm Fast
Morich Awesome Flip
Hammer Hot Sauce
Roto-Grip Mars
Roto-Grip Neptune

you really cant go wrong with any of these balls. they all work very well on mediums with the exception of the mars and the neptune which shine on the lighter side of mediums. but if i had to pick just one off this list it would be without a doubt the Colbalt Bomb pearl. it is for me the most angular ball i have ever thrown and i have thrown alot of them. hope this helps and good luck with your selection.

The Hammer Tennis Ball (Burn) is pretty angular, and from what I've seen should work really well on the type of condition you described.

Going back a couple years, if you can find an old Storm Fired Up or even Spit Fire, I'd jump on that.

How about a T-Road pearl?  Ball is discontinued but has an amazing amount of recovery.

all great suggestions, but based upon his profile (which I am sure most of you didnt read) he is a med speed bowler at best with tweener revs.  35-37 ft of oil is short, all of these balls are fairly strong, meaning at 37 ft they are turning left, and heading for the 7 pin.  If he had more speed and could push to a break point down lane those would be great choices.

I personally would look at some of the mid level stuff, you are going to need some easy length to get to a break point to utlilize the snappiness

Sorry cant offer up many suggestions as I have been out of the game as far as anything non lane 1

but I will say for a mid priced ball, both the Link by 900 Global and the new Gemstone are very misleading.  I am sure some of the new big b stuff in the mid line could fill this too.  Also the new Sideways by AMF looks pretty good as well  and for a few more bucks the upcoming Seismic Epicenter looks good.  Dont let the dynamo x2 fool you either, great length with a ton of recovery

Break pearl or Break point pearl will both be angular as they come, and wil keep that reaction longer.

I also second the Black pearl reactive
