Suggestions for videos
« on: July 11, 2013, 02:50:56 PM »
Anything in the back of a pro shop you haven't seen that maybe you'd like to see?  A certain process we do?  What it takes to resurface a ball?  Plugging?  Drilling?  How about behind the scenes at a bowling alley?  Maybe some commentary on something?  Vlogs about pro tournaments?  I spoke to our center owner last night and he approved making the videos actually showing the lane certification process being performed, so that IS coming.
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

I'm sure there is a lot around but mostly what I've seen is not for the person who knows little! The subject would be ball layout for drilling .. showing what happens when the layout is one way or another way. Like to see how the core reacts with different layout (drilling's). would like to lay the ball out for myself bring it to the pro shop and have the holes drilled where I define!

Yes, some still on here talk about "negative pins" when we know that it's only "negative" 'cause of their PaP being so small.. ie, 6" pin from a PAP that's only 4" is going to be "negative" but in actuality it is not :)

I can agree with this myself. One of the best things Hammer did with the First Blood release was to put out a layout reaction video for the ball. They took the same guy, showed him throwing 4 different layouts and how they reacted. Its kind of nice going in that when I have mine drilled next week that we can discuss layouts and I will know what kind of reaction I'm wanting going in.

What I would like to see is someone take the same ball, drill it weak, drill it strong, drill it to roll early or go long and then throw it and show an overlay to see the difference.

I know each ball is different, but a general " if its layed out like this you will see this" compared to a different lay out. Right now I see people toss out all these numbers, but I'll be damned if I know what those are vs what the actual ball reaction is.

BTW Gizmo I'm hoping to get a chance to watch the other video's you posted this weekend. My overtime got cancelled so if the wife can leave me alone for a few I can get it checked out finally  ;D

Are you talking about drilling a ball, throwing it, plugging it, and drilling it somewhere else and throwing it some more and laying the shots over top of each other?  If so, every time you drill a ball and then plug it, it changes the specs of the ball, because the weight and density is replaced by something that isn't the same weight and density in the same places.  Now the ball will still react fine, but you won't get an accurate representation of what it will do with a certain layout if it's been previously plugged and redrilled as you would just taking a blank ball and putting that layout on it.

And for Joe, I could do a basic video to show you how a core rotates, and then there are already several good dual angle videos out there.  However, they can be pretty intimidating or confusing without the concept.  Maybe since I don't have a script on that I might be able to make some sense, haha.

Well tbh what I would like to see is probably way to expensive for an individual to do ( unless you had some kind of backing from a ball manufacturer). Basically you would need  something like 4-5 balls of the same brand all drilled with different patterns.

After I made the statement I thought to myself I probably should of clarified better because I realized on my way to bed that plugging and redrilling would mean that you weren't going back to the original specs of the ball, so it wouldn't be a true indication of what an individual layout does versus another.

Then I realized what I was asking to see would probably cost an individual a pretty penny and is just unrealistic  :)

I probably should of went to bed and posted this afternoon when I got up  :D

Haha ok.  Yeah there's a lot I won't be able to do financially yet, if my channel starts paying for stuff, I can do it, but lol that's a long way off I think.
