What About steam cleaning [^]
« on: February 26, 2010, 05:30:23 AM »
I know it would be better to just go to a proshop and pay $20 to use their rejuvenator but i'm cheat and just thought of a new way opposed to baking or dishwashing...What do you guys think about steam cleaning the ball....maybe put a towel over the ball and steam the crap out of it? In theory it will work right?

That would be dangerous. That steam comes out very hot and if you get the cover over about 145 it starts hardening the cover than it is ruined.

Rejuvenators and hot water baths are about 130-140 degrees.  Steam is 212 degrees.  Big difference.  I wouldn't do it.

Well I'm pretty sure they tried a bunch of different ideas before they got it right with their "100% proven results" this was mine good or bad just being a little creative.

Try it on a crap ball and see what happens. I'm curious if it would crack if warmed up with water first, then steam it. Materials tend to crack under quick temperature changes, and even moreso when going from hot to cold.
