"The Rule Of Threes"!!! This rule is as serious as 3 leafed plants such as poison ivy and poison oak. "The Rule Of Threes" is that if there is a split on the adjacent lanes on both sides of your lane, or if there are splits on two lanes on one side of you, DO NOT ROLL THE BALL! If you roll the ball with a split on both sides of you, or if there are two splits on one side, it is GUARANTEED that you will roll a split, making it 3 consecutive lanes with splits showing. You must wait until at least one of the two splits showing are cleaned off from view, or you will pay the price of a split for your impatience. I have seen this rule play out so many times that it is incredible. You are safe to roll once one of the two splits disappears from sight. I still recall one night about 2 years ago where one of my teammates was up on lane 21....there was a split showing on lane 20, and another split showing on lane 22....I told my teammate to hold up a minute, but he commented that he didn't believe in such hogwash....well, he rolled the ball on lane 21, and left a pocket 7-10 split, making 3 splits showing on lanes 20, 21, and 22! When my teammate walked back off the approach, he was just shaking his head while I was saying "I told you so!".
A bowling good luck charm is to find a coin laying on the ground somewhere....put it in the watch pocket on your jeans. If you find a coin in the bowling center parking lot, that's a really good find.
