Superstitions

we all have them, STRANGE OR NOT what are yours ? Mine, if I'm bowling well is to walk the same path to the ball return around the tables and what ever side of the scoring table that I  started my string until it is broken. also if I have a big string going I'll just walk away from the table and walk around up and down the concourse area until it is my turn to bowl.

Since I saw this thread, I've spent some time thinking about this. And I find that I spend a LOT of time thinking about the inconsequential things that might change my "luck" (or keep it going). Like - I ate this last night, and I bowled well, so if I eat the same thing tonight, I should bowl well.  And - I didn't wear my watch last night, and so on, and so on.
Is this obsessive behavior, or do the rest of you do stuff like this too???

One advantage of bowling over golf
is that you seldom lose the ball.

I always have to pick up my ball with my towel and wipe it off no matter if it's a ball I've just brought out of the bag or not.  Run my hand over the air no matter if I need it or not.  I HAVE to have my watch on to do anything, just don't feel comfortable without it.  A few thick, but smaller rubber bands on a couple of my fingers, gotta have those.

10ITP - You've probably cost me some games now, 'cause every time I see splits anywhere near my lane, and especially if mine will make 3 in a row, I'm gonna go for it just to prove this superstition wrong!!  And when I leave that split, I'm gonna curse 10inthepit!!

As for finding coins in a bowling alley parking lot, you might as well be looking for gold at the end of a rainbow.  Bowlers can hear a penny landing in the grass from a mile away, and it'll send them into a frenzy just like dropping a bucket of blood into a pool of sharks!!

Personally, I think if you believe you bowl good or bad depending on certain circumstances, you will.  The subconsious mind is funny that way.  Ever stand on the approach and just for a second think, "don't miss this to the left."  Then you deliver the ball, concentrating hard to hit your mark and cover the spare, and it misses to the left?  Superstition?
