Thumb mold issue
« on: September 23, 2011, 11:41:58 PM »
Ive been having a problem recently with a few thumb molds. I like the feel of tape so I use tape in my thumb molds. With the last 3 balls I have gotten the tape only temporarily sticks to the mold and there is a reaction to the mold material ( i found out was reformulated and is an issue right now ) and the glue starts to melt and the tape slides all over thuimb. Glue is like impossible to get out. Im wondering if anyone is having an similar problems with thumb molds and if they thought of some sort of fix til they can figure out there formula problems.

Thanks in advance

Mike

I make molds with the textured tape in it for a few customers! Ask you shop to copy a thumb with the tape already in it. Just curious , what brand of material is having the problem?

Use "IT" and BOWL UP A STORM!!

I used to use the Wizard stuff in my shop but some time ago I changed to the Master stuff and find it to be much better... never had any tape issues in any slugs though!

Mike we had this problem all summer here in Texas and it was the humidity that was making the glue on the tape to do what you described   the way to solve it is to remove the tape when you finish bowling and install new tape when you bowl again. now that the heat and humidity has moved on her it is not an issue.

we had 69 days over 100 degrees  never had this problem in Las Vegas there we had heat and low humidity
