I think they were custom 9's

I bought some leather dye and turned my old white and black SST 8's to gray, orange, and black. I'm no expert, but I actually think that they look pretty cool. As such, if you really want a certain look, you can pretty much do anything you want if you're willing to do a little work to them.

Can you post a picture of your "new" shoes.  They sound very cool.
