How will the USBC affect people with balls in STORAGE?
« on: May 13, 2005, 07:41:34 AM »

This may have been covered 1,034 times already... but I haven't been to this part of the site in a while... I've been extremely busy.

You know some people have found a ball that they just love and they went ahead and bought a few extra when they went on close out and were at a cheap price. And if the USBC rules pass then these balls that people have laying around in their closet will not be any good since they don't have thet USBC logo on them.

So what does a man do if he found a ball that worked so good for him that he wanted to buy several more for when the one he's using now wears out and DIES... and now they just expect him to just lose his tail with the extra ones he has in storage?

I pulled this quote from another thread:

quote:
quote:
we probably just wouldn't sanction our leagues. We'd come up with our own sanction and awards program for the league.

This seems to be the prevailing opinion. And it isn't so much the weight holes that bother me - it's otherwise perfectly good equipment, that MEETS ALL THE OTHER CRITERIA, but just doesn't have the USBC logo on the ball... GRRRRR....

I thought the logo was only required for balls manufactured on or after 1/1/2006...all other balls would be grandfathered in.  Or perhaps I read the proposal wrong?

Putting the logo on the ball is NEVER going to fly. Manufacturers will have to absorb the costs, and in turn, consumers will being paying for the changes.

Not to mention manufacturers not wanting it due to aesthetical reasons.

I'm pretty sure the old balls will be grandfathered in & eventually the will disappear. There's no way everyone will have to get new balls. That's total chaos.

What do You with balls in storage that are NEW IN BOX????....Simple SAVE THEM!!!!!....When any thing is banned Our human nature makes Us want it more....So banned balls will become more valuable....Imagine this AD on Ebay in lets say "2009"...."RARE NIB 15 LB Brunswick Ultimate Inferno The ball the USBC banned for its power"!!!...It will get very high bids!!!!

Thanks! And all other comments welcome!

I know a guy that liked a particular ball so well, that he went out and bought 7 more NIB of that ball to last him for a while!
