Finger tape
« on: March 21, 2011, 03:38:53 AM »
I've been bowling with a golf glove on for a long long time. But I'm getting tired of them ripping quickly. I do use grips & they are bigger sized cause of the glove, I use to get blisters on my fingers so I went to using the glove

What's the best kind of finger tape? I saw Vise Yellow 50

Thanks for the input

I have a Vise Blue tape like your Yellow, but mine is textured. It works, but ....
I much prefer Turbo-2-n-1's Blue shiny tape:
It is shiny but grippy. It's a 3" wideroll, but I cut a 2" piece off and ...
FYI I used the technique shown in this Buddies video (page down in the above web page). It really works very well.

Heavy, really surprised that Charlest didn't talk to you about span, fit, etc.    You should not need to use finger tape.  Fit, finger pitches, span, etc should get you away from the tape.

Most all of these "crutches" such as tape,  are only a way to compensate for poor drilling.  Poor fits and drillings are keeping many a distributor and pro shop in business

Bullred,

Every bowling "aid" is not always  a "crutch". Unlike your other post about wrist devices, many PBA national touring members are now using finger tape..

I tried to use finger tape because as I have gotten older my fingers retain much less skin oils, even with aloe and hand cream treatment. Pros are protecting their skin because of the use and abuse they get bowling so many games per week and per year..

So skin tape is not necessarily a crutch. I know my pitches are good, because up to about 2 years ago I never had this problem. Now one particular joint cracks when I bowl more than average or don't pay special to how deeply I put my finger into the finger hole. Since my pitches have not changed in years, I can only assume my fingers have.

While it is entirely possible that Heavy Lefty's pitches may need to be checked, his query was pointed at a replacement for a golf glove. Probably wouldn't hurt if he had his driller look more closely at his finger pitches for his hand's physiology..

Bio-skin !!!!!!!!!!

I usta use the Vise-grip yellow stuff years ago,,,,, but found that after 3 games it wouldnt stick anymore......

I then went to some 2n1 minty green stuff, which was about the same....... but i liked it better than the vise-grip yellow......

Well I then tried some Bio-skin...... and WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    this stuff is awesome.......  I can bowl all day long and have no issues with the tape peeling off (sweaty hands)  or anything like that......

I use the Bio-skin blue stuff and buy it from buddies pro shop...   I believe if you get 4 rolls it's free shipping. cuz of the cost.....  But I normally order up 5 or 6 rolls at a time...  I know for me 1 roll lasts about 1 season, thats bowling 1 night +  tournaments about every other week, and some practice time in between too.....

the stuff does stretch a bit......   if you want i can do up a short video on how i put the tape on my fingers......

Like Charlest I use the 3in. Turbo Tape on my middle finger.I then wrap a 1 in. Turbo branded black tape around my middle finger just below the first joint. It helps the tape last all day and stick without changing to a new wrap of finger tape.Like mentioned before, the Vise Yellow tape didn't stick at all for me.I was lucky enough to get a consistant feel with it for half a game without adjusting or replacing it.

Rayray,

Please do check out that video. I used to play and play and do all sorts of things to make the tape stay in place. Almost nothing worked until I watched that Buddies video at a friend's insistence. Now I feel silly NOT having done it a long time ago. No extra tape is needed. I can virtually guarantee that.
