I would imagine its like any seminar offered by the distributor. Its a private event, hosted and payed for by the distributor. You pay for the bowling ball or lane machine materials, the rest of the seminar is brought to you by the distributor.

The whole idea is to offer something to the customers of the distributor that is privately for them, and the general public can not take advantage of.

This is usually the case,but sometimes if you interested the pro shop that you go to will let you go
if you ask them.My friend owns a pro shop and when these seminars come up, all I do is tell
him I want to go.I just pay the fee and he sends in the information.I have other friends
that go to other pro shops,the usually will ask their pro shop owner and he will let the go as a pro
shop member.Now this is not always the case,but you can ask and see what happens.

A regular person, with no affiliation with a pro shop can not attend these seminars.

I just think you needed to be more clear on that. A regular every day ball reviews person can not just call up a distributor and get on the paid/guest list. You must have your local pro shop put you on their invite to the seminar, or have your local bowling center allow you to go as a representative for them.
