talk about a terrible night...
« on: July 08, 2008, 04:21:06 PM »
Hey Group,

Well, I couldn't have had a worse night!! we were on the Shark pattern in the PBAX league and I shoot 448 <sigh!>

Whats weird is that this is our 4th straight week on this and I have done descent on them except for tonight...and our anchor man shot 442.

And if that doesn't beat all I get my ticket called for the strike pot which was worth $80.oo and its on the lane that is owning my butt and of course I miss it...good grief I have not bowled like this in a long, long time.

But one thing about this league is that its never ever a dull moment as  there is always many people getting owned, hehehe, stay tuned!!

Jake,

You're just one of 4,356,873,128 victims of the Shark pattern.

No biggee! Get revenge the next time. For me, I need something around 1000-1500 grit playing inside so the ball doesn't have too many boards to cross late. The extra surface not only helps the ball read earlier, but helps control the late movement on the lane. Good luck.

Oh boy... I get my first shot at shark this year tonight.  I have an NVS at 1000 that I am hoping work well on this shot.  I dont have anything else sanded that low so I am keeping my fingers crossed.  I have been bowling terrible on Scorpion last 2 weeks but it was all my fault not the equipment.  I have been throwing it like real doggie dodo recently....

The Shark and I don't get along very well in general.  But I've found what works best for me is piping it from the outside and avoiding the over/under mess that is the inside part of the lane.  I am much less likely to leave a washout or a split if I miss it just a hair at the bottom of the swing, and it's more in my comfort zone.  Carry is surprisingly good from outside as well.  After a game or so, you start to burn up a hook spot that gives you miss room as well.  When I am executing well, I can shoot 190-210 consistently from out there when I struggle to shoot 170s playing inside.
