Talking Smack?
« on: August 01, 2003, 07:52:37 AM »
Does this ever happen in your center? Someone goes out and shoots a 300 or 800 then turns into the Smack King or Queen.I am talking about a person who on a tough shot could not even get out of their own way.All of a sudden the lanes are too easy for them. Most were the nicest people to bowl with until the honor score. Around here it seems we get a new Smack King/Queen every week.

Yea I know exactly what your talking bout. Let me tell you bout my friend here. He has never bought his own ball. All his equipment is hand me downs that have never been plugged and redrilled. So all his equipment is different in thumb sizes and spans. When he isn't striking he changes balls (not even hitting a mark to get to the pocket in the first place.) This dude went to a tournament and shot a 300 (god had 2 be on his side and a cake shot.) Now he thinks he's good enough to go pro. LOL. He has to be more inconsistent than me. He thinks because of his inflated average he is good. Ha Ha. I can't wait till he plays on some real oil. Not the berlin wall we have here.

ALWAYS!!!  Here in Atlanta, there always seems to be someone who can't leave the fact that he shot one alone.  It is bad enough when there are times that I shoot a 300, only to go into a different center several nights later, to have several people come up and tell me they heard I shot an honor score.  That is not a big deal to me.  But, we have a person here, that everytime he shoots an honor score, he lets the entire world know about it.  He had the league high series at 844.  There were 2 separate times I had a chance to beat him.  I choked late in the 3rd game and ended up with 834 and 843.  When someone was congratulating me on my 843, he made sure he was next to me saying second place was not that bad.  There was another guy, late in the season, who had 280-300 to start the night.  He was on 279 going into the 8th frame of game 3.  The person with the 844 kept watching every shot this other guy was making.  When the guy left a 7 pin, the other person screamed "Yes!"  as though he thought nobody heard him.  The guy ended up with 838.  So, the other person walks up to the guy who shot the 838, shook his hand, and was kissing his tail like he was trying to be a sport about it long after 30 people heard him get all excited that the guy choked.  He thinks he is God's gift to the bowling world.  Then, I looked at his showing at the ABCs.  I believe he shot a 120 game in game 9.  I felt so badly for him (NOT!!!)

This has nothing to do with being jealous.  It all has to do with showing their tails by not keeping their mouth shut.  Anybody can be good on today's league conditions.  I remember one night shooting a 280 and losing scratch to a guy who shot 288.  Only difference was that he was only averaging 190 to my 230.  But, at least he could keep his mouth quiet.  Anyone can beat anybody on any given night.  It is the classy ones who only say, "Nice game.  Good luck the rest of the way." when you are bowling head to head in a tourny.  Nobody wants to hear "self promotion" by a person who won all their points or bowled their career night.  It is a very unsportsmanlike thing to do.  Being conceited is NEVER a good thing.

2H, that's how I saw Bud's post. If you read his profile, he would rather average 190 o a tough condition, than 220 on a normal house shot. This sounds like someone who can't score high/compete on easy/good conditions.

He states that every week, and they get a new smack K/Q. Meaning that someone that he thinks shouldn't bowl a 300 game is, and is pounding their chest a little. To me, that sounds a little jealous, because he's probably not bowling 300's himself. Because if he was, he could "smack them right back"..!! and it wouldn't bother him that others are pounding the chest a little.

That's just my take. I could be wrong. =:^D

This has nothing to do with  me. I just happened to realize that this guy at our center has started to talk smack after he bowled a 300.He used to be kind of quiet then all of a sudden you can't get him to admit he got lucky. He went brooklyn 3 times then carried a trip 4 - 6  in the 11th frame WOW. I know that when you shoot your first 300 you should be pretty excited ( I know I was ).But don't puff your chest out and all of a sudden think you are the best ever.I was also one of the first to congratulate him when he did it by the way.I still like the guy just not who he is turning into. Hopefully it is just a phase.

By the way I have shot honor scores ( just so you know )
