Tape Issues?

I use the thick white tape in most of my balls. I have problems with it wanting to come out a lot. I have actually thrown the ball and had a piece of tape come out at the same time. Is this normal? Is it b/c I am putting tape, over tape? I assume tapes stickyness could go bad, but couldn't I then glue it back? What do you guys suggest? No sugestions on buying new tape! LMK. Thanks.

I have had absolutely no problems using tape by the brand name of "Ultimate."
