I use tape on my thumb but it seems to always wanna peel off in a couple of frames. As you look down at my thumb it peels off the bottom left corner. If I dont use tape my thumb gets sore and gets somewhat of a calus on it on the left side also. I use white tape in my ball at the back of the thumb hole. Just wondering why my thumb gets all beat up like it does.

You may have a pitch/span issue. Something with the fit may not be 100%.
One thing I absolutely have to do to keep tape like the hada patches is clean and dry my thumb before application. I also put it on with my thumb bent a little bit and hold down with firm pressure for at least 10 seconds. I generally just use an alcohol based hand sanitizer at the control desk to clean my thumb.

The white tape has texture. Using it on the back of the thumb hole, it is probably catching the tape on your thumb and causing it to roll up. Try using smooth black tape on the back of the thumb hole. If you need the white tape to fill more space, put a piece of black tape over it. Hopefully that will help.

Just addressing the roll up issue, check out a liquid called "Benzoin Tincture". It's a sticky solution that helps the tape adhere to the skin.
There are probably 6-10 of us at league who prep our thumbs with Benzoin Tincture before applying tape. Prepping with alcohol for some people doesn't do the trick. Benzoin really works.

Extend the leading edge of the tape to at least halfway down your thumbnail and press it down after applying.

I use magic carpet tape and around this time of year my thumb swells to quickly and remains thicker on these warmer times. At times I have to use hada thumb tape in conjunction with carpet tape. If thumb tape is placed properly, I have no peeling or roll up issues.
Though, the tape does roll up at on the posterior base side of my thumb over time. The only tape that doesn't roll up at all is the lane masters thumb tape.nits also cleaner after removing the tape.

I haven't used Lane Masters thumb tape, but the Genesis tapes are also good at not rolling up, and the residual glue isn't obnoxious. I've used several brands, but Vise seems the worse.

I'll go out o a limb here because I'm not an expert on any topic, but go back to what Keith said. White tape has texture. I know that I can't use it in the back with hada patches because the white tape is too rough. Black in back, white in front. I'd also check fit because callous can mean your grip is stretched or you're just gripping. That one I can mention from years of experience ignoring what my hand was telling me.

I have the same problem with tape not sticking to my thumb, even after I use dishwashing soap to remove all oils and even alcohol wipes. I put on the tape and the edges start curling. It's relatively inexpensive and lasts a long time and can use one piece of thumb tape all night now, which saves money too.
A general rule is white tape in the front, black in the back. I don't use any tape in the back and use the tiered tape method in the front. 8)

On a couple of topics already raised:
1. I also used Benzoin when I used Hada Tape from the roll. Since I switched to the precut pieces, I no longer need the Benzoin tincture. I also seem to have no need to clean my thumb with alcohol or similar. The Hada Tape and the Vise thumb tape both stick so well.
2. I also used white tape in the back of the thumb hole, BUT I cover it with a piece of black smooth tape. The white tape is far too rough and could be related to the thumb tape rolling up at the edge.
3. Although I am a lover of Lane Masters bowling balls, I find the LM thumb tape to not stick nearly a well as the Hada and the Vise tape. I should try it another time, just to make sure.

Everybody's skin is different. I would throughly wash and finish wth alcohol wipes, yet couldn't get tape to stick through the whole night. Benzoin was the solution.
As far as exposed white in the back, a lot of bowlers use the technique. I have 2 teammates who only use white in the back with nothing in front. They don't wan't to alter their span. They also use Vise Hada on the back of their thumbs. One uses Benzoin to secure the thumb tape, while the other doesn't have to. It just goes to show there isn't just one way of doing things.

Whiz, consider this combination of tape: Ebonite (black) Ultra-Grip tape at the front of the thumb hole and Vise Hada Patch tape on the back of your thumb. The Ebonite tape is smooth and allows a clean release. I have tried Storm white tape at the front of the thumb hole. The tape is textured and caused the thumb to stick. Vise tape has the best adhesive that I have found. Yes, the tape leaves a residue, but it is a trade off that I will make. I use the tape for a snug fit because my thumb compresses as the series goes on.
As Steven accurately stated, there is more than one way that will work. All of the posters have excellent points. You have to experiment to find the method that works for you.
