Probably need a new plug cutter...
« on: March 26, 2009, 11:37:07 PM »
My plug cutter is dull.  Looking at it I'm thinking it would be near impossible to sharpen.  If it can be sharpened, please let me know.

Otherwise, I'm looking for a good plug cutter.  Can anyone recommend one?  It will not be used in a pro shop so no need for a super-duper whiz bang model.  Just something simple, affordable, and sharp.

Thanks.

You could sharpen it.  A file?  Maybe even a side grinder.. Call someplace that sharpens drill bits, perhaps they have a good method or idea...

Thanks Britton.  Hated to drop $125, but it had to be done.  Tired of cutting plugs 1/32" short and then sanding them down.  Too much work!

Plug trimmers can be sharpened by professionals that can sharpen curved surfaces.
We sharpen them for around $25.00 due to the curved edge.
We also sell new ones for $99.95

Good to know Russ!

I am now out in the boonies and have two cutters I rotate.  Now I know who to contact without going to Dallas.
