I am secy/treasurer for 10 team 5 man league , do it for $200 house computer does all standings and average ect all I do take care of money and any rule questions come up not hard to do , I don't do it for the money.

Dear God what?  Most of the time the houses do it now and I have a problem with even paying their lineage for the year just for them to walk through and collect envelopes and hand them to the desk and be done?  Sign me up!  2 grand to be a league secretary?  I didn't know that kind of nonsense existed.

In my 2 leagues, the treasurer is still counting the money and ensuring it’s all there before it’s given to the house. The treasurer does have some work to do there, and covering their lineage seems fair.

I did run a small sport shot league for a couple years that was small enough for the house to collect the money themselves (20 people). I didn’t take out any expenses for that, I had very little to do.

I have been a league secretary for many years now.  Here is what I do every year.
1. Fill out USBC start of league paperwork for the league and each individual bowler and turn it all in.
2. Set up pay envelopes for each team
3. Give each team a monthly spreadsheet so that bowlers know how much they have paid and what is still owed.
4. Collect envelopes each work and have to deal with bowlers who are always behind
5. Fill out USBC paperwork and turn in for all honor scores
6. Answer all questions about league/USBC because the other officers have no answers and I seem to have all the answers
7. Set up the prize and sweeper funds
8. Get the prize/sweeper money in cash from the in house banking and separate it all into envelopes for winning the league, point money, and sweeper money.
9. At the end of the year, fill out USBC end of season paperwork and turn it in
All I expect out of this is to bowl for free.  I have never "made" extra money, more often than not, I am always a bit short.
It is my observation that folks that complain the most stop complaining when I explain to them what I do.

I can say with confidence that you are in the extreme minority, the VAST majority of people don't do anything near that.  The house takes care of all of that for most leagues now.  Nobody is complaining about you getting to bowl for free for that, or they shouldn't be.  Of course, the question is begged, why make someone do that and take money out of the prize fund when the house could just do it, but I digress . .

All our center does is in house banking.  The league secretaries do everything else.
