Team bowling trials and tribulations...
« on: December 02, 2003, 08:23:13 AM »
Ever have one of those nights where everyone on your team is on but no matter how hard you push, you can't seem to get it together? In my 5 man league tonight I tried everything I could to get my timing in sync (as when I threw it hard, it sailed straight), but when I was keeping it slow and firm, I was going through the nose like crazy (2-4-7 combinations, greek church)... as a result I shot 157-165-171 for a wonderful 493 while my teammates shot 664 (fellow lefty), 651, 580 and 575. So we won 4 out of 5 points and shot the high series scratch for the year, but I couldn't get it together to save my life.

Any other interesting experiences like this to make my life a little less depressing?

Matt

Don't sweat it.  It's a team game and your team won 4 out of 5.  Next time maybe it will be your turn to carry them.  We all have days when we bowl the opposite of everyone else.

Sawbones: I very much agree on the fact that I see when people are bowling poorly on my team and they still are trying. I bowl on a team with my father and father in law. They didn't take it bad that I was having a rough night. I kept plugging away, and tried to stay out of trouble. At the end of the second game I finished the last two frames with a pocket 6-8 and a Greek Church. My friend who shot 664 told me to put the series out of sight and mind and go get them next week.

I guess we all have those ups and downs in the sport of bowling, I'll get back on track next week and learn from the struggle.
