Team shirts
« on: August 24, 2004, 05:27:01 AM »
How many of you are on a team that still wears a Team Shirt?  Seems like these are the exception rather than the rule these days, but I was wondering how big of a psychological factor is it in the success of the team?  Do you see a team that has team shirts as a tougher competitor?  If you're on that team, do you feel more a part of the team due to the unifor dress, rather than merely an individual bowling with 4 other guys?  Finally, why do you think team shirts are becoming a thing of the past?

My team wears team shirts.  They're just polos with the Real Estate office logo on them, but they look the same.  Of course I never wear one - they never seem to get a XXXL for me; I can wear a XXL until the first washing, then it's toast.

We have team shirts and about half the league does as well.

When businesses stopped sponsoring teams and bowlers had to buy their own shirts was the end of that. We know how cheap bowlers are.

I would say all the better teams in my scratch league do have team shirts whether they are sponsored or not.

I don’t know if you bowl any better but it sure makes for a more professional look to the league when the teams are dressed alike.

Mandatory in my big scratch league w/ blk slacks, they give you 3 to pick from and then take it out of prize money.

We buy our team shirts at the state tournament and use it for the next season.  This year's shirt is red

Men's league we do as does whole league we all have sponsors and support them by wearing the shirts.  Mixed league it is do your own thing.  I don't know that it helps the bowling, but makes it look like we are taking it serious and you know where everyone belongs and if you don't know the names you can follow along better.

Why get cool shirts when your team can get cool pants like my team- The Burning Sensations- for the Junior World Team Challenge? We all wore orange pants.

In the league that I sub in that team has a set of team shirts that the captain helped design- a nice mix of red and black with the team name on the back. Even though I've been on their team for 3 years, I have yet to get a team shirt but I hope to get one this year.

I was thinking about getting team shirts in my Tuesday league, but if we move to individual singles match play bowling, I guess I won't have a need to get team shirts...

We wear the “50’s style” bowling shirts on my men’s and mix doubles teams. Our company (Tyson Foods) sponsors us. We just received our shirts for this year (we get new ones every two years). I purchased them through Bowling Concepts and was pleased with the results. Typical button up the front shirt with red/white/blue stripes over each shoulder and above the pocket. We have our name above the pocket also. On the back is the best logo I’ve ever seen. It is a huge flag with our companies mascot (Buddy the chicken) holding the flag pole and giving a thumb up gesture. We also sew on any ABC patches we may have won from the previous year.

A side note: I also have a Big Red One Infantry patch on mine. It is for my son who is in  Iraq.

I love the idea of team shirts and i put my own team together and let me Brother in law get the shirts from our sponsor and he came back with t-shirts and to me that isn't what i think is respectable. I was hoping for a collared shirt atleast. But atleast we will match i hope, i have a feeling some of the guys wont do it!

My team is just starting to get new shirts and dress more like a team. I think its a good benfactor in the long run cause you know who you are and other people see how you help each other.
