Righties w/urethane vs. Lefties w/urethane
« on: August 23, 2018, 11:23:04 AM »
You almost never hear of people complaining of the lefties throwing urethane, Butturff for example, and you always hear complaining of the righties using urethane and how it isn't fair and should be outlawed cause it damages the shot. I think 6 people throwing 1000grit reactive balls tears up the shot more than 1 guy throwing the 'newer style' urethanes. I'm almost tempted to throw all urethane and be 'That Guy' cause i always find a shot with the urethane i have. Sorry, rant over.
PS- I know there are many more righties vs lefties in the bowling world but you never hear the argument the opposite way from the lefties.

Lefties can use urethane more effectively in general because they don't have to move in as much from what I have heard.  Totally agree urethane ruining the shot is usually whining and we have a thread about this about once a month.  The issue generally is most house hacks can't tell the difference between early friction and true carry down so they blame urethane instead of all the sponges drying out the end of the pattern.  Urethane does carry down but its affects on the overall shot are overrated by most people imo.  As has been pointed out many times so does throwing plastic spare balls across the shot but they never whine about that.

If I am using urethane, I need to be somewhat close to the friction and keep my angles tighter, so that actually helps the people getting over under.

People just like to bitch.

One lefty can't complain when he's using urethane because he's the only guy out there.  The right hand side has more friction from more bowlers.  One righty with urethane can hurt the shot quickly with pushing the oil down. When that happens the reaction gets worse for everyone. Urethane guy starts leaving flat 10s and eventually buckets,  resin guys lose their break point down lane and have to find a way around it.

Everything affects the condition.  Using resin with any surface forces bowlers to move in and open the lanes up….. What every ball on the market advertises it is made for….  But you still will have the bowlers who want to bowl on 2nd arrow for 20+ games without having to move.

No matter what,  someone is crying

Amen. Now that my generation's parents do nothing but cry and complain about every issue that comes up on Facebook things are going to get worse before they get better in regards to complaining. Now that people have learned that complaining leads to attention with a little drip of dopamine/adrenaline we have an entire demographic made of literal "complaint addicts". They don't even want resolution, they just want to get their feelings out.

The sport of bowling will look and be completely different in 15-20 years, for the better. Trust me.
