Technique- ever heard of this???
« on: March 11, 2005, 05:49:10 AM »
Let's face it.  I've always been a slower roller with lots of reaction.
Slow speed high track moderate revs and turn = lots of time mediocre CARRY unless oil.

Always seeking speed.  But it would only usually come with muscular effort on my part!

Went and took a lesson from a local star and by the end of the session I was up to almost 16 to 16.5 at the pin deck with no effort!  Perfect for my revs which might have climbed a tad also.

The method!?

No pushaway.  Just let the ball fall on with the step you want. Focus in the hand being very relaxed.

I guess at the Mo Pinel and Track joint seminars they are teaching this with the a focus on the elbow straightening as the ball passes the thigh down.

Twice I've done it since.  Once in league started fast and stiffened up.

The other time I never speeded up.  Then I had a nice practice session.
Finally last night I did it all night.  More speed, slightly more revs, lots of balance and powdering the pocket.  If I get used to this speed on spares I could really tear it up.

Tried it?  Heard of it?j

I can't believe it's me!

I worked with Bill Hall for about 9 months and converted over too this method fully within a month of major changes to my game. Bill teaches setting the ball in motion not a pushaway which is muscling the ball, i was a 4 step approach he converted in 2 weeks to a 5 step approach it was hard and weird but i nver lost a pin average and gained 5 in the last year since working with him.

On my second step i simply let ball hang at my side and walk by the ball it will naturally step up your backswing and position your hand behind the ball. I watched wiseman close up at one of sessions and he does this techinque exactly as Bill has taught he the same thing. You can vary speed by where you hold the ball higher or lower but overall my revs went up 2-3 and speed went up 1-1.5 mph to about 18.5 -19.5 at the arrows. I am able to project the ball down the lane and save reaction for the backends using this method also i also have went to about 50 degrees of rotation i still have no tilt about 10 degrees and still suck on fried heads and floods but i can constantly have bigger games now.

There is no way to stop muscling the ball totally he will teach and frankly do not worry about it the shoulder tightens up naturally even with free swing. This guy is guru and most of what he teaches is above my head he is worth the 75 an hour but until you are advanced in your game i would not go to him. I found a silver level guy who also helped me alot for 35 an hour and he is more bale to convey the modern game because he is younger and more in tune with average bowlers than BIll is.

So walking by the ball will setup your entire swing increase revs, speed and accuracy so give up your pushaways and let it rip!!

One of my bowling buddies uses this method and his swing is very free and consistent. I fiddled with it for a while to no success but I'm thinkin of trying it again.

I use this style, it is similar to the "Modern Game" pictures on morich's website. I learned this from my coach here in NJ, and she learned this from Mo himself.

I tried this method, to no success. My speed actually got slower, by rev rate stayed about the same, but I started to turn the ball to early again like I used to do. So I got away from it before I threw myself all out of wack. Forgot to note that my timing wasn't great either, one shot I'd have early timing and the next late. Had to go back to pushing the ball out in front of me and letting it swing like I do. I see why it works for some, but just not for me.
