whats your opinion
« on: August 14, 2009, 10:50:12 PM »
the house close to where i live has finally decided to break down and buy a new oiler. there other one is a old wick machine lane walker thats probably 20 to 25 years old. over the years the shot has been really crappy and inconsistent. will a new oiler help the shot that much? also i brought up the thought of a sport league to try to bring people from  other towns in but was shut down on that by the owner saying in this economy no one will drive 20 miles to bowl a league. basically the owner is stuck in the stone age of bowling and since he has no competiton has no reason to change the wa he does things or so he thinks. sorry to ramble

Depends on what machine they buy.  If they get one of the Kegel machines they can put out any shot they can program in it, and Kegel has a bunch of them.  You also have to maintain any machine for it to work right.  --  JohnP

My house bought a new oiler I don't know what kind but ever since the shot has been terrible , the shot goes away before 1 full game with 4 man teams. It could be they don't know how to use the machine or they may be doing it on purpose but I think I'll have to get Storm's Natural Urethane ball , that should do the trick

My house bought a Kegel ION abou 2-3 years and and just recently upgraded to another Kegel machine which offers more pro shots. She's been offering PBA shot leagues for the last 2 summers and now plans to have a winter PBA shot league. The juniors in the house have leagues all season long that offer pro shots. It's great experience for them and the junior house bowlers did very well at the state's this year. The adult PBA league only has about 20 members but it is summertime.

As for the shot. It's very consistant week in and week out for me. And I bowl on the second shift.  Before this machine people used to always complain that they changed the shot but it was the old wick machine. Hardly any complaints now with the Kegel.

Yes it will make a difference.  We had an old magnum silver bullet and it was terrible.  We bought a Kegel Kustodian+ and it solved all kinds of problems.  The shot holds up and is consistent.  The old shot was unpredictable most of the time.  The Kegel strips lane 100 times better than the old machine.
