Bill Horvath.."What the pros don't want you to know!"
« on: October 21, 2005, 09:31:20 AM »
Anyone actually worked with Bill Horvath.

I actually ordered his book and thought it was good stuff.

Very practical approach to the game.  Not the best prose but good info.

I've talked to one member here on this site who was from his area and did not rave about him as a bowler....but at the same time I believe there are some great teachers that can only bowl so so!

Anyone had him in to give a clinic or anything???  Or taken lessons from him.

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS I understand he has tons of testimonials of so so bowlers that instantly nail 7s  and 3s after working with him?

Ron Hoppe so so bowler but anyone thats says he is not a great coach is on drugs, Mika was a so so pro but a great amateur until he worked with Ron Hoppe then boom dominant force every pattern instead of a one tournament wonder. So dont go with a guys bowling average i am called coach in 2 leagues, i have at least 10 people i help out but i only average 195 myself. I have worked with Bill Hall at least 100 plus hours and study bowling daily but still stink at my own game. Because of some physical problems left knee for me it is hard for me to get leverage at the bottom of a swing. Bill used to tell me i had some of best false revs he has ever seen lol Because i was not driving with my legs ball just skates on top like a top sucks for me but i can and do helps others become better bowlers from all the hours i learned.

More often than not, the best coach is not the best bowler.

Ability has NOT ONE BLESSED THING to do with the ability to coach.

COaching requires a great knowledge of human psychology (innate or taught) and a knowledge of bowling, not an ability to bowl!

Agreed, the best bowlers I know, can coach a 6 year old.  Some of the best coaches I've known can't average 210 on the easiest conditions.

Has anyone seen Mr Jowdy bowl?

Bowling physical ability has nothing to do with being able to decipher timing and problems in a physical game.  Some have an innate gift for interpreting such things.
