Thank you Charlest (surface prep)
« on: June 28, 2014, 04:40:54 PM »
Getting some equipment surface touched up for bowling a tournament tomorrow when I realized I do not have my 4000 grit siaair pad.

I use this instead of polish for a more consistent application.

Well I remember in one of the many surface post read on here Charlest stating that news paper could be used to give a ball a shinned/very high grit finish.

So I took my Nexxxus and hit it with a new 2000 grit siaair pad for 25 seconds on six sides. Then I came back with some news paper and went 30 seconds on  six sides for an extremely shinny and tacky finish. Talk about extremely happy and pleasantly surprised.

Always great when you learn and remember something useful.

I certainly appreciate the thought, but thank Rico (justrico), not me. I just passed it on.

He said the newspaper was more like a finer grit level than polish, even though it may have a "shiny" look to it. That should help handle carrydown a bit better than polish.

lol Well thank you both then. It was much needed today and will be tested tomorrow morning no doubt.

Likely to replace my 4000 grit.
