The 3 worst balls you have seen
« on: March 23, 2004, 07:05:54 PM »
What are the 3 worst balls you have seen or have bowled with?

1) Bone XS
2) Synergy ETS
3) Helix ( The one with the Urethane stripe )
I would have got away with it if it was not for those pesky kids (Behind my lane) and those blasted 10 pins.

Red 3-D Hammer(if i was a fluffer it would have been the best)
Jade Quantum(wrong surface and drilling will do that)
Coral Triton(more conditional than bad, but a bit of a pest still)

I like my Omegas still(Lion in da house), wish i had an XS too!!

This is a great post. Some I agree. Some I don't agree. You know what they say, opinions are like butts. Everyone has one. My three worst in order of badness.

Ti-Messenger. (This was my worst by a mile).
Hammer 3D offset (Not a very good ball).
Mutant. (Not a bad ball on the right condition, I just needed a third).

i find it funny all the balls on here i performed well with. the ti messanger, the bone xs, the coral triton. the only bad ball i have ever had has been my tornado. hooked too much on dry and skidded on oil. figure that one out lol

I hated the helix when it came out. I remember walta using it on tv and sucked. but i found a Lh one ebay for 50 bucks and to this day i still use it. it works for me, very surprised.

1) almost every ebonite ball previous to the timberwolf
2) hammer went sour after the 3-d offsets, not today
3) the burgundy zone pro. yuck, it never could work for me.

Neat topic for now!

Here is my picks;

1)Bone XS(aka yayaya I had one too.lol!)
When I had this XS,I gave it away, within 45 minutes.
Thank goodzillaness,I only paid 2 bucks for it.

2)Columbia Pro Hook Extreme(aka loves to skid sliidddde!!)
I offered this to 5 different people,no takers yet!

3)Brunswick Edge II (aka urathane laterish 80's)
I Bought this used for $1.50,I dont think the original owner
ever cleaned it,it ended up being a temporary spare ball,
for about 3 days!Gave it away,I was actually glad,the
preson it went to uses no thumb and spins the crap
out of it.He was very happy with,he liked it better than
his Brunswick Laser.

Those are the worst, for I have about 20 more, but you only ask
for 3.

But...in unofficial ""4th"" was a polished Icon 300,gosh!!!
I couldn't do crap with that. Not only did I go home that night
(aka HORRIBLE TEST DAY for a ball, yuck!)in frustration.
Umm,within a day or so I either traded it or gave it away,I've had two more since that bad day.

Uhhh,w/these,NO TESTING,just bought em to trade for other balls.

Be Cool I'm sure these were GOOD,when they were introduced.

I still get spot requests for the Icon 300 or any Icon period.
I dont seem to have much luck with the Icon Family.

Thats all

The worst performing balls I remember.

Brunswick Phantom – No one could figure out how to drill one with all the pins.

AMF Impact KE21 – There first soft rubber ball in the late 1970’s.

Hammers first resin Blue Resin Hammer – hit and carried like a pumpkin.

Actually our experience with the XS was that it was a very good ball. An early asymmetrical core in a resin ball, but the ball was so ugly no one could stand to throw it.

Honorable mention in the bad category.

Storm La Nina
Ebonite Omega
Columbia ProHook Extreme
Columbia Vector Two

3 Worst I have personally thrown:

1-Original SOLID Combat Zone

2-Forrest(hunter??) Green Quantum

3-Storm La Nina

I did not give the La Nina much of a chance. So if I were to pull that off of my list I would put the BONE XS there, BUT the BLACK XS was a pretty good ball. I remember reading an article that Mo wrote about that and he said that the white pigment in the bone made it hook much less than it should have. The Black XS moved just fine and hit really well.

Considering there is 1 ball good for someone.......this should be an interesting post.....
but here are the worst 3 looking/thrown for me:

1)Yellow Sun Storm (just god awful all the way around)
2)Columbia Reaction Rip (just for those who know me, and my best friend who throws it.. they will like this..."It's Garbage")
3)Brunswick Attitude 3 (looks make it bad here, f***in' horrible down the lane)

--on a personal note, the worst ball that i have thrown is the Track Mutant(looks are alright, but reaction is terrible, especially when u get a few games on it, the ball "dies", terrible coverstock/proactive combo
