The best spare ball
« on: November 08, 2006, 02:22:16 AM »
Ok. I know I may get flamed, laughed at, and get no replies. But seriously, who has the most functional spare ball out there? Just a thought. Doesn't have to be the most expensive, I least, I don't think it does, but whatever works. All jokes aside, all non-violent replies will be greatly appreciated.

When you've moved up, moved back, adjusted left and right, cupped, flattened out, have thrown everyting in your arsenal, and the pins still don't cooperate, just say, "Aw to HELL with it!", and throw the ball!

Plastic is plastic.  All this business of "what hooks the least", "what's the hardest ball" and such is hooey.  The best one is the one you think looks best in your bag, in your hand, and going down the lane.

Personally, I think the Spare Tire is pretty cool.

Bottom line is going to be plastic for MOST spares. I myself just ordered a black Jack Daniels Vis-a-Ball.... the light colored ones and clear ones just look waaay too grimy/cloudy  after a little use. But to each his own...

colombia blue dot
nothing goes straighter or longer on dry
than this ball
its the driest dry lane ball going

yes the spare tire is the coolest plastic ball
going to date so far

xxxl is ok but still hooks more then a blue dot
due to the weight block

Pick the one you think looks best.  I like the classy look of a Blue Dot.

I have had both XXXL's from Lane 1, Track Desert Heat(drilled weak),I now have the Clear Lane 1 ball

The best, is kind of hard to say as they all did or have done their job. Probably the best (just because of the cost) TO ME was the
 Brunswick Speed Zone.

Not all plastic balls are created equal. Get a blue Dot... it's the hardest ball out there.

Not any more.  At one time, yes, but BDs from the last many years have the same hardness as the WDs and every other plastic ball available.

Plastic is plastic.  If you believe the hardness of the ball is what allowed you to pick up the 10-pin, you didn't throw it that well.

I currently throw a 15lb White Dot, although I'm thinking about getting a new spare ball, except 14lbs so that I may control it better. Does anyone else throw a lighter spare ball?

Recently I have started to use a Columbia U2 for spares. It is drilled straight up so there is very little action out of it. But if I cup my hand, I can get the ball to turn if I need it to.

But just bought my son a Columbia 300 and he loves it. It goes the direction that he throws it, which sometimes can be a bad thing.

BOWLING IS FUN NO MATTER WHAT YOU SCORE. BUT A 300 IS ALWAYS NICE.

STRIKE ZONE & PYRO. STAND 18 AND THROW 10 OUT TO 5 AND SMASH THE POCKET. AT LEAST THAT IS THE PLAN OF THE NIGHT...

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD BOWLING!!!
