I'm sure at one-time everyone has bowled with or against a person like this. Mine is a kid (to me anyway), 23 yrs old. Throws what seems to be a 20-22mph shot, with low revs, from the 8-10 board to the pocket on any condition. He does this everywhere and scores on any condition except heavy oil. Every alley in the area is dry to light oil. Most local tournaments are the same. Now he is accurate, has a good ball arsenal for his style, and he knows when to switch. I'll give him that. He bowls on my team on a Tues night league that I sub for. He also bowls on a different team on my Wed night league. He does have one of the top 5 averages in each league and there are some good bowlers in those houses.
My issues:
1) Very cocky to the point it's sickening. He mentions himself among the best amateurs in any area. Problem is, he never leaves the area and he is also one of those "I could be a touring pro if I really wanted to work at it, but I don't" guys.
2) We are about even in both leagues in average. He has beaten me solidly in two light oil tournaments and I have beaten him solidly in two heavy-oil tournaments. In the two tournaments he faired poorly, he "could have bowled a lot better, but he was tired from partying the night before." We always split pot games, with me making constant lane adjustments, and him standing in the same spot all night. He also makes statements like, "With me on the team we intimidate everyone in the league," "With me on the team, we can't lose," and also "I'm the guy everybody fears in this league, in addition to John (me)." He is condescending to the rest of the league and our own team. However, my team doesn't say anything because they don't want him to leave.
At this point, I know it is starting to sound like "sour grapes" but I'm curious, if any of you bowl with someone like this, and does it annoy you to the point where you also want to strangle the guy or quit the team just so you can bowl against him???
