How do you battle...

those small slits and cracks in your fingertips (not callouses). In the colder/dryer season I get these slits and cracks on tips of fingers.  Happens to me every year.  It is only on my right hand, which being a righty, is of course the hand I use most often.  It is NOT from bowling (probably more from working).  These suckers never bleed, they just sting a whole lot.  I use lotion and cream, and when I need to , I put a small dab of crazy glue to pinch close. Doesn't affect my bowling, just very annoying.  Is it just me?  How long do new skin patches stay on, really never found I had to use them?

You may get those slits beacause the air isnt very humid in the winter. Use lotion, but not too often, to counter this.
Are you working with chemicals at your job? That could otherwise be a casue. to your problem

You might also want to try some of the tape used to wrap finger tips.  If the cracks aren't caused by bowling the tape won't cure them, but it might make them less painful while bowling.  --  JohnP

Generally a web site for women, but it used to have mens products.  I suppose hand cream can be used by anyone.

This is the best stuff I have used (very expensive, but worth the money).  Non-greasy so you won't lose the ball out of your hand.  Better than anything you find at a drugstore or grocery store.

Any hand lotion with Vitamin E or Aloe or preferably both is the best thing you can use. You can even buy straight Vitamin E tablets, puncture one with a pin and spread the oil on it and rub it on.

And don't use rosin bags. They'll dry out your skin even more. Just wipe them with a towel, preferably a clean one, during bowling.

liquid vitamin E will help too, I have a bottle of it i got from a meijers, you want a the highest IU count you can get mine is 28,000 IU, its a honey type thickness.

when using it, apply it at night, put a bandage over it, and let it air out during the day.

to combat this problem in the winter I use a humidifier. I always had horribly cracked and peeled hands. You can use any lotion you want, but if you want to get rid of the problem you need a humidifier. Oh yeah, also wear gloves at night. It is annoying, but having hands that crack and bleed every time you bend them is worse I think. My hands still get dry in the winter, but not even close to what they were like before trying the above remedies.
