Is it just the house that I bowl in, or are others seeing a major increase in pocket 7-10 splits?  I know that this leave has become known as the house curse where I bowl, and they always seem to come on the best shots of the night!  And, it almost seems like the higher the average that you carry there, the more solid pocket 7-10 splits you leave.  I know that I have left 3 of them in one set on 6 different occasions in this particular house....and I've left them on consecutive frames, as well as consecutive frames on the same lane.  The better you hit the pocket, the more prone you are to see the 7-10 looking back at you.

change your angle of entry. before I could figure it out I left many 7-10 splits. at least 2 or 3 a night. it helps keep your avergae down

It all depends on the lane but if I am covering a lot of boards like standing 25 out to 5. I have found that making a bigger adjustment like 5 left, and if there are big backends I move my target 1 left or if they are tight I use the standard 4.

if the backend are not crisp and down and in is leaving 7-10's then I just pick a stronger shell ball that will read the midlane harder and even out the angle a little or reduce the amount of axis rotation, speed, etc.

the difference can be suttle. like most high rev high scoring guys you can leave 7-10's all night but the 160 guy is punching it in the nose and striking at will.

his ball is defecting more and that can sometimes open up the pocket, where as you are crushing it and leaving bad stuff. you just need to manage the fiction to control the entry angle as well as the energy of the ball.

I use mostly Morich stuff so last week at the PBA World Championship at Taylor Lanes I saw Mo Pinel there watching Danny Wiseman.  So I talked with him while we were watching Wiseman and I noticed a lot of pocket 7-10s on the three pairs of lanes that I could see.  So I asked Mo why the pros left pocket 7-10 splits way more often than us amateurs.  He said it was because of the particular oil pattern (and the amount of oil) that they were using for that tournament.  That pattern made the pros swing the ball more outside to carry and combined with the turn that the pros put on the ball compared to normal bowlers increased the chances of leaving more corner pins.  So it is a combination of the amount of oil, the oil pattern, carrydown, playing wider entry angles, axis rotation, and speed.  Sounds like this game is more complicated than we think it is.

I don't leave a lot of "pocket 7-10s" when I throw the ball the way I am supposed to. If I do leave one it is usually because I am a swinging the ball (my B game) and came up the back a little and rolled out at the pocket.

Got a guy in this area who has counted his pocket 7-10s this season---62 to date. He is bowling 3 nights a week as far as I know---maybe 4. So thats basically 62 over 300 games at least. 1 every 5 games.

I have seen an increase at one of the houses I bowl in. We use to have the plastic Twister pins.Everyone left pocket 4-9's.The owner changed over to a heavier wood pin,now there are a lot of ten pins left.We have long oil about 42ft then a wickedly dry backend.With the plastic pins they flew everywhere.With the heavier wood pins they just get shot back into the pin no real deflection.

If u leave it and ur going pretty strait at it then its becuz ur ball is rolling out.  But when u swing the lane the angle is alot bigger so u will get pins to just scatter blow out 7-10 and messengers run hand in hand
