This will require Ron's approval - we'll need a place to setup that doesn't create any legal liabilities and we'll need to use some electricity - I'm willing to donate the use of my ball spinner, polishes, cleaners, abralon pads, sand paper, scotch brite pads etc (within reason!) to my fellow bowlers while I'm at the event (Fri, Sat, Sun). With Ron's approval, we can set it up some place out of the way on the floor or on a table. I have a containment bin/splash guard.
This will allow people to "see" and "feel" how a change in ball surface can change ball reaction. We can adjust your surface in the middle of your game so that you can judge for yourself what a difference in surface makes in ball reaction.
For those bowlers who never clean their equipment, it can be an eye-opener how much ball reaction can be restored with the simplest of cleanings.
To me, this site has always been about sharing knowledge and stories. I think this is a great way for each of us to learn more about surface adjustments and how they can help (or hurt) our game.
Of course if anyone is thinking of getting their own spinner, I'll share with you what I know about using them and you can give it a whirl.
