The most hookingest ball without.............
« on: October 01, 2003, 07:27:45 AM »
Im looking for a hard hooking ball, MINUS the partical, proactive, whatever coverstocks, strickly Reactive.

I've thought about the Throttle/R, but just want to hear some of your opinions. Someone also mentioned on of the Monsters.

Don't let anyone fool you Strapper, Urethane in the right hands will hit just as hard and knock down just as many pins as anything else on the market.

I dont think Urethane would be great for say Nationals or on heavy oil. I just havent had great luck with Partical stuff, and thats why I was looking for a hard hooking reactive.

I havent seen anyone throw a Throttle/R so I was asking about it.

Both of the Lane#1 Cherry Bombs (solid & pearl) are reactive only.

I haven't throuwn them myself, but I've seen them hook an AWFUL lot in the right hands.

Get you a V2! Keep it sanded to 600 grit.

This has got to be the BIGGEST hooking Reactive ball of all time!

You can't go wrong with an Inferno. The coverstock is very versatile. Shine it up, dull it, sand it, no matter what you do, it still hits hard. Shined up it's a big hooker on medium conditions. Dulled down to 1200 to 1500 without polish and it's great on medium to medium heavy. I haven't thrown it sanded, but I know a couple of bowlers who swear it's a good medium-heavy oil ball when sanded to 600 to 800 grit. I know I prefer it dull over the Raging Inferno when I run into oilier conditons. I haven't found enough oil yet for the Raging Inferno particle ball.

might look into a Track Crunch...

Reactive....under a 100 bucks.......very adjustable shell.....hits like a ton of bricks....

Placed 43rd at the Bowler's Journal using a polished one on a very tight condition....and if wasn't a dumba^*% would have used it both days at Knoxville...finally pulled it out second game of doubles.....and ended up going 600 and 632 in singles....

Like it so much have stockpiled 2 to have for future use....

In my experience, unless you have very dry outsides and/or very clean backends, the Throttle R is NOT a huge hooking reactive.  The X-Factors hook more, the Element hooks about as much in absolute terms, the Inferno hooks slightly more with a slightly more aggressive move off the dry.  With your revs and speed, the Throttle R will work better than it did for me (17-18 revs, 14-16 mph)if my experimentation is any clue.  But with your speed and revs, I'd be thinking X-Factors (and I'm not a big Storm fan).

The throttle R does hook but it is not intended for oily lanes. I can make mine move over 25 boards on a medium pattern but for heavy oil is just skates down the lanes. I would also go with the buzzsaw ideas both of the bombs have a high hook scale.

Thanks to everyone that posted here for your ideas.  I am leaning on a Buzzsaw or a X-Factor.  Would anyone happen to have one that would be will to trade?  Must be 16lb and single drill.
