« on: February 13, 2006, 10:15:13 AM »
I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A BIG SWING BOWLER(JASON COUCH LIKE)AND RECENTLY ALL THE HOUSES I BOWL AT HAVE CHANGED THE SHOTS AND NOW PUT DOWN MUCH MORE VOLUME+LENGHT AND I CANT SCORE. I HAVENT EVER REALY HAD THE REVRATE TO MATCH THE BALL SPEED BUT I JUST PLAYED DOWN+IN BUT NOW I MIGHT AS WELL THROW PLASTIC. IVE BEEN TRYING TO LOWER MY SWING BUT IT JUST ISINT HAPPENING. IT FEELS LIKE IM NOT EVEN AT SHOULDER HIGHT BUT I TAPED IT BECAUSE IT WAS STILL GOING AROUND 17-18MPH AND THE BOTTOM OF THE BALL IS STILL PAST THE HOROZANTAL LINE OF MY HEAD. I HAVE TRYED JUST  ABOUT EVERYTHING, INCLUDING SHORTINING MY APPROACH AND SLOWING MY FEET. DO I JUST NEED TO LEARN TO GET MORE HAND?

CAN ENYONE HELP.

Its alright Monster. Don't let these old codgers get to ya man.  They just have bitterness towards your youth.  WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT, SHOULDN'T IT BE EASIER TO SEE AND READ BECAUSE THE LETTERS ARE BIGGER?....HMMMMM

Actually it's the opposite.  Studies have shown that writing in all caps will make it more difficult to read.  If it was easier, don't you think that would become the standard?

PS-  And I'm a youth, not an "old codger".

Since you apparently are new to internet manners, all capitals is equivalent to screaming or shouting.  It's considered very disrespectful.  I understood "the joke", but if you can't be bothered to type normal, it's my choice whether to respond or not.  It's not like two different people didn't try to get you to lose the caps lock already.  I've also heard that people who have mastered basic spelling have a much better chance at being versatile with a bowling ball.

Also, from another post, you are left handed and average over 210 after only one year.  What help could we possible give that would be taken seriously by such a prodigy?

Your name says cranker, your profile says you're a cranker, now it turns out you're a fluffer?   Hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

Hey, I cant help that I cought on quick, in fact I am very proud that I can average 210 in a year. And my rev rate is 380-400, witch I would consider higher than a tweener. I dont think you get the jist of how flooded my house has become. By the way do you have any intention of helping me or are you just trying to start some kind of arguement that I dont want to be in. That is what I have concluded after reading your profile, am I wrong? You tell me.
edit: And I have got my average by listinig to what others have to say and taking critisim seriously, maby others my age dont, but I do thats why I'm asking for help.

Now that we got your attention, maybe we can help.  You get treated as we perceive you.

First we need some more information.  In your first post you said you never really had the rev rate to match your ball speed.  380-400 rpms is pretty solid.  What is your ball speed?  Do you know your PAP and axis tilt?  What equipment have you tried?  Drill patterns and surface prep?  How has the change to the lanes affected other bowlers, regardless of style.  Is everyone having to slow down, throw straighter, use more aggressive equipment...  Be honest.  In reality, VERY few houses put out a ton of oil.  It's expensive and leads to customer complaints.  They probably just put a few more units of oil outside or lessened the amount of dry boards.  For someone used to swinging the ball, moving the wall/dry boards from 10 to 5 will often make the lanes appear flooded.

Many crankers, especially young ones, have a lot of axis rotation because it's how they learned and what scores best on many house shots.  It might be something as simple as staying behind the ball longer and coming more up the back as opposed to coming around the side.  The more axis rotation you have, then longer the ball waits to make it's move.  It doesn't do any good if your ball goes 55 feet before hooking to any degree.  Try leading more with your ring finger.

Have you tryed a free arm swing?I know it is hard but try not to muscle the ball. One of my team mates has a problem of the muscle the ball,he is going out an buyin brand new Aboslute infernos and smokin infernos, and I am buyin used balls off of her and out bowling him,for one reason, ball speed. If you could get you arm swing to shoulder high and not muscle the ball you will be able to bowl better, because you wont be forcing the ball to that high speed.I know one guy whos arm swing is lower then his shoulder and he is averaging 211(Rodney Evans, on here). He is proof that you dont have to have high ball speed to be a good bowler. His GF is a good example in the aspect that you dont have to have speed or RPM to be a good bowler.

To answer nails, i throw about 17.5-18 pretty much every shot, becides spares ofcorse, im a high tracker, I come around it a bit but not too much, the ball has very little to no tilt, it looks end over end just angled at the pocket. as for my equipment its in my profile, the ones i use the most are: ultimate inferno(pin down cg kicked)-500 matt, dirty bomb pearl(pin down stacked)-brunswick factory high polish, absolute inferno(pin up cg kicked)-ruff buff.
the DP and AI cover about the same ammount of boards, but a verry different shape on the lanes. the free arm swing thing i have tried that today, because i pilled my bicept saturday durring travle leaug but i need to bowl today, last week for school, and the bottom of the ball was just at the half line of my head, thats as low as it gets for me, unless i force it down, the speed was aout 17. most the leftys ant my house are looking at about a 15 pin drop in average because most arent very good spare shooters and there is no drive to the pocket to carry, right handers frst games are bad but gradually get better as they break down.

Maybe moving your feet right and bending the ball would get rid of your 5-pin problems.  You've got the speed and hand, evidently.  You're throwing an agressive ball, too.  So, experiment a little bit with moving across the lane.  Slow down your feet if you have to.  Stand at the 2nd set of dots.  Bring your target closer to you.  Try some of those.

It would be nice if you could get a video up or something furthering your explanation of this high-volumed oil for THS.

Did the free arm-swing work? It was an idea.If you can keep the same RPM with the free arm-swing then maybe, you can get the old reaction out of the ball.

it didint really help at all, i had a little less hand and a little less speed, they pretty much negate eachother. i wish i could get a vid up but i dont have a camera, the only time i used in was in a summerleauge that we bowled on pba shots. i stand on the dots closest to the lane, toes on the dots, today i was playing 15 to 10 for light pockets, outside of 8 was out of bounds in the ditch or washouts, i took the i took the 4-8 out of a full rack in practice with the AI.
