I'll be bowling on my usual squad this year - August 26 at 11:45 AM. I bowl on a squad with what has been a growing number of Webers each year. When I first started, it was Dick, Rich, John, and eventually, Pete. Lately we have picked up Pete's wife and two of Dick's grandsons. Rumor has it that Pete's father-in-law will join us this year, giving the Webers and family two full pairs. In addition to the Webers, there are several regional players, and sometimes one or two other touring players. It's quite a squad (in spite of me
).

I would not recommend your choice of balls for the Petersen. As others have said, plastic (or rubber, if you have one lying around) and urethane are best at the Pete. You will have enough trouble controlling your ball reaction without having to deal with something reactive, as well. If you want to bring one of those, I would suspect that the Tour Power would be the better of the two. I would strongly recommend that your other ball be a plastic ball and that you be able to throw it straight, even on a carpet. You cannot afford to be missing spares at this tournament, because the strikes will most likely be few and far between. I bowled with a guy last year who shot a game in the fifties (I am not kidding) because he could not throw his ball (a mild reactive) straight and the pair hooked so much, he could barely keep it on the lane.

The strategy you suggest is a great strategy for a backup plan when you can't find a ball reaction on a particular lane. I take a Columbia Messenger Black (urethane) dull and my Target Zone (plastic) highly polished. If necessary, I can headhunt with either of those balls, just as you described. Last year, on one pair, I hooked plastic on the right lane and went straight at the headpin from the left side (I'm right-handed) with my urethane. I ended up high on the pair for the day, which made me some money (we have squad pots).
As most have said, just go in without any great expectations and have fun.
