Can anybody give me some tips. I will hopefully be bowling it August 30. Is it true that u can only bring 2 balls? If so what 2 should i bring. I have Black Widow (box, pin over ring), Rampage (box, pin near axis), spare ball, Sapphire Zone (800 grit+high gloss). I was thinking Black Widow for medium up and spare ball for toast.

This is not your typical tournament. Expect the unexpected and bring a sense of humor. Pins will be off spot, mixed weight pins in the rack, no tareting arrows or dots on the lanes.
Yes only 2 balls allowed. When you check in, they will take your picture. You then bring your bowling balls to be weighed. Your starting lane # is written on the bowling balls. They are placed in a shoppin cart and the next time you see them is when you go to your lanes.
As for what to bring, I would highly recommend the spare ball. Next year that is all I am bringing. My Blue Dot got the most play for me this year and I thin I would have done better if I had only used it.
Have fun is the best advice I can offer!

I suggest you bring something even rolling & doesn't want to hook much. Every lane has a different pattern on it. So, just hitting the headpin every frame is quite an accomplishment. Remember, averaging 185 in the event should cash you for $1000 --- so, making spares is key & take the lucky strikes as they come.
Don't bother scouting the lanes on the squad before yours either, the staff there shuts the doors between squads so you can't see which lanes are being touched up, & which ones are not.

What you need to bring is a spare ball, and your humor.

Never been, but all Ive heard is hit the head pin straight. Haha. And Pete Weber once threw a 104 at Peterson. Sounds like a blast.

I would recommend grabbing a Black Beauty off the rack and treating it more like miniature golf than bowling.

And to add to TheMan14's reply, that would be in the Chicago area.

Spare ball, spare ball, spare ball!!!!!!
I can't wait, 2 more weeks till I bowl. You really need to just have fun and not take it too seriously. They have a side tourney(Lumberjack) that you can use regular equipment for. That event has heavy pins mixed in, but it's no-tap and also a lot of fun.
Make sure you go to Portillo's and have some Italian Beef. And some deep dish pizza, it's the best!!!

I'll be taking a Spare Tire and a Urethane Blue Hammer.
The Blue Hammer might be too much ball.
Last year my urethane flame was too much ball.

If it doesn't come from Team Utah.
Just leave it in the car or at home.

Equipment advice...hmm...ok, here is something simple- if the ball was manufactured in the past 30 years and is not one of the ultra-hard Blue Dots, then you are packing too strong of a ball. Even weak urethane considered weak in the 80's is going to be too strong unless you polish the crap out of it...

I did it many years ago with a Bleeder and Blue Dot and had a great time. The Bleeder was seldomly used.

Well I just got back from the "experience" og the Pete. This was the worst I bowled in about 5 years. I just couldn't get anything started. High game was a whopping 189, low a 147. But something did happen that made me feel a little better. On the squad after us, both Norm Duke and Mike Machuga bowled, and at least my lowest game was higher than thier lowest. I saw Norm shoot 145, and Machuga a 131.
I guess even the best bowlers in the world are humbled by the shot they use at the Pete. There is always next year!!!!
