I had the pleasure of owning a Riptide.  Had to start my hips left on my second step to get out of the way of the hook.  If you want a ball that rolls out, on any amount of oil, with any amount of hand, at 30 feet get a Riptide.

Without a doubt the earliest ROLLING ball ever made was the Navy Phantom from Brunswick. In fact I still think that the RG values for that core are the limits for ABC's standards.

Now if that ball would have had a resin or particle coverstock I don't think you could touch it. Even with a urethane cover the ball still performs well today.

NOw if you wanna talk more recent production, then yes I agree with the Tombstone...the ball would hook in the air before it even hit the lane!!!

Yep.

I still can't believe that I saw Jason Couch using the Tombstone in the televised finals once.  I figured that Jason and his Ebonite ball advisors must know something I didn't know, because that seemed to me to be a terrible ball choice for him.  It was.  I never saw him use it again.  I don't think I ever saw anyone use it again.
