Wow, wow, and more wow
« on: January 28, 2004, 11:21:04 AM »
You wanna talk about a couple great weeks, geez.  I bowl with a guy that's 24, has 18 sanctioned 300's, and nearly 10 sanctioned 800's.  Last week he shoots 300-279-258-837.  Last night he opened his first frame and went sheet for 279 (don't remember what his series was, but it was a nice 7).  Tonight he shows up, and on no practice, shoots 300-266-247-813.  He left a 7-10 in the 5th frame of the 2nd game, 24 out of his first 25 shots were strikes.  He has 3 300's this year, a 299, a couple 290s, an 803, and now these two other 800's.  The best part about it is that the 3 300's have come in 3 different houses, and the 800's are between 2 houses.  Haha, but better than THAT is the fact that his 803, two of the 300's, and the 837 were all bowled with a Chrome/Yellow Power Groove.  He's a control cranker, with emphasis on both words.  He's VERY good, and could be out on tour if he cared enough to try.  If I was that good, you'd be seeing me on the show every week.

Cared enough to try!?

That is a fascinating term.

Years ago I played high school golf with a guy that as we aged became A#1 Ahole of our golf area.

Every tournament he would show up and on the first tee.  "I'm so drunk I can't even believe I'm here."  Then if he performed well "I was so drunk and I beat you".  Or if he shot 89, "Oh, I was drunk".

Years later he went on to win a really big tournament.  As he approached the final round with the lead I ran in to 3 highly accomplished friend golfers from the same team.  State champs et all!  I said, "Isn't that something that Joe A*hole leading this big event?"  My acquaintance said"I hope he shoots 97, it couldn't happen to a nicer guy".

He didn't, he won.

I personally can't stand people who claim they're not trying!

If only they "Cared to try".  Sets my blood boilin!

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS great accomplishments though, let us know when he decides to try!

Agreed, Lefty - if you aren't going to try, why even be there.

Remember Yoda's comment "Do or do not. There is no try."

Back to original thread - a guy on Tuesday night shot 827 last week and 806 this week. He just dropped from 15 to 14 pounds the first of the year. Guess it's working for him.

This is the most amazing story I've ever seen.  I found it on Trackbowling.com

Posted: Nov 06, 2003

Track Advisory Staffer, Roger Koplin, had a great weekend at Pinion Plaza Lanes in Carson City, NV. The weekend of Oct. 18th, Pinion hosted the Northern California Seniors Tour and Roger had a perfect 300 game in qualifying with his Triple Threat. Later this same weekend during a practice match Roger rolled another 300 with the same Triple Threat!
The following week Roger used his new Phenom Unleashed during a practice match, which he had just drilled. He rolled 48 consecutive strikes with games of 280, 300, 300, 300 and 268 for a five game average of 290.

In a different setting, during Travel League, Roger had just drilled his Crunch Time. While there was relatively low scoring and very dry lane conditions, Roger rolled 278, 236 and 225 for a real nice 739 series.

Congratulations Roger!

....how's that for scoring?
