so what's a flinger again???

Bones - you defined a flinger as the "stand left throw right" mentality.
I would agree with that.

BUT - wouldn't you also call the person a flinger who throws off the corner, almost dead straight, with 2-3 revs on the ball and no accuracy (but carry any time they get even close to the head pin on either side - about half the time)?

One of my local buddies calls that style "the headhunter".

I looked up "flinger" in the dictionary, and all it had was a picture of Sawbones.

I know there are responses on here that I don't see .. but the term FLINGER to me is not familiar. The object in BOWLING is to attempt to get all 10 pins down with one ball .. or at worse all 10 pins with 2 balls! How the ball gets there is up to the bowler .. if they want to use 2 hands /no holes/ two fingers .. loft the ball/hook the ball/back the ball up .. and we can name them anything we want too .. if they beat us it's their day! There are days when anyone of us put it all together and we look like champs .. then there's those days when we'd like to hide under the table resulting from out scores. FLINGER .. must be a bowler who beat me!

A flinger to me is someone who puts all their efforts into rev’ing the ball up and sending it right with little regard to any target. They tend to max out in physical effort on every shot. They rely heavily on the shot to guide the ball to the pocket.

I would agree with mumzie’s friends in the person who simply throws hard at the head pin off the corner is a headhunter. Who while the may their day they are not common.

Pinbuster - they may not be common in men's leagues, but there are a LOT of 'em in women's bowling...
All or nothing - 5 brooklyns in a row and nary a spare - but a couple of "flush" 10 pin leaves.
Now - I'm not complaining here - just commiserating...

Maybe it's SCORING that needs to be revamped - why give so much for strikes in a row, but not reward spares in a row???

i'd call it a "rocket to the pocket" if someone went up the boards to the head pin.
some members on here would call it "cableing it up the outside"
or better yet "Trabering it"
free agency it is until i get a better offer.   LMAO
