What happens if?
« on: December 16, 2008, 11:30:50 PM »
Okay one of the houses hosting the Mens Senior State here in WI has been caught putting down illegal shots down for league nights. The Owner states that he knows what he is doing and refuses to change the shot for anyone or thing. He has been caught a few times this season and a few last season also.

Okay My question is, What will Happens if he is caught putting down a illegal shot in State? Is their rules for this type of thing? and what consequences would their be for the owner?

Which one?

Team Event
Clintonville Lanes, Clintonville

Minor Events
Mountain Bay Lanes, Shawano

I'm bowling mid Feb......here come some high scores.

FYI......last 4 Sr. States I've bowled have been tubed up with the exception of 2 houses out of 8.  This is nothing new.

Clintonville the owner Rod Huber is a real winner lets say...in his mind. Last year he put less oil on the left than right side of the lane so the leftys could play the same as the right.

Drrev the USBC isn't worth a damn anywhere. especially if they let you bowl

How is the shot illegal?  It is nearly impossible to lay down an illegal shot.  Putting less/more oil on one side than the other doesn't make it illegal.  As long as it is 3 units and dressed edge to edge it is legal.

Exactly as Agroves said.  You only need 3 units on every board to make it legal.  You have to go out of your way to make it illegal.  And the only way to KNOW it's illegal is to have the USBC come in and test it.

My Thursday house was actually caught last year.  The owner admitted (afterwards of course) that he thought it was too dry outside.  They changed the shot in case the USBC comes back, but you can pretty much tell that they revert back to the old shot some nights.

I thought the State tournament brought in there own oilers to do the job. I know in PA the State Assocation does the setting of the machines so there is no foul play going on.

He has no oil or not enough oil outside. He has been caught doing this on numerous occasions. He sets the shot up this way cause the owner likes to throw it out to the gutter and watch it bounce off.

I can't imagine why anybody would want to do that.  Most oiling machines don't oil the first board, so you have alittle bump there anyway.

I have know Rod for a long time and have never seen him get outwardly upset because someone is carrying better than he is.  I also do not believe he would put any honor scores that are thrown at his establishment in jepardy by putting out an illegal shot.
What this looks like to me is mainzer slamming Rod for something that may have happened (Gary being thrown out of a tournament due to a rules violation).
I am not here to make either party look good or bad, I just think that it is not fair to slam someone if they are not in a position to defend themselves.  I have never seen Rod on this, or any, forum within this site.  This just makes Gary look a little childish, IMO.  My $0.02.

I got tossed for violating a rule that almost every other bowler bowling in that tour has violated. Their was no issue with it until I made the cut, Their was no issue with Bob Huff bowling in it he had only bowled two sets in the assoction to that point, Jon Severnts admits to bowling when not eleigible and their is no issue with that either but when I DO WHAT EVERYONE ELSE DOES THEIR IS A ISSUE!!

More over the question still stands he has been taped and it has been illegal.

Take it private.

Just about any wet/dry walled up China THS can be called illegal on the edge boards not a big deal.

For the most part most WI. Sr. State tourneys ALL have been walled up strike-a-thons.  Not a big deal to me you bowl on what's out there.

As long as the state sanctions the tournament then there is no consequences.

Houses can be found to be out of compliance and they just resinspect.

There are houses around here that use a rag with solvent to dry off the outside 5 boards.

Sounds like sour grapes to me.

It actually makes sense to have the right side wetter than the left since there is more traffic there.  It might actually might make both sides play closer to the same.

And as others has said, that doesn't make it illegal.  The only way to know is whether the USBC ran the tapes.  Even with one illegal tape, I seriously doubt the USBC came back "several times this year and last" to run tape after tape for a house shot.  They have enough work checking sport tapes.

Now it comes out that you think the shot is illegal, or is that just unfair to you, since you've been tossed from a previous event?  Oh, that's right, every one was doing the same thing, just you were caught.  Something doesn't add up with everything you're telling us.
