Absolutely I would go.  I do not mind bowling on difficult conditions and it would be even more practice and a good evaluation to my ability to adjust.  I'm also used to embarassing myself in public and not afraid to get taught a lesson or two on the lanes.

Besides, with tough conditions I might be able to pull off a dark horse upset along the lines

I guess my take is a little different.

I know I don’t have the skills and if I was taking a spot that a more deserving player would use then…. No I wouldn’t go. Otherwise I would consider it.

I have bowled the ABC masters a couple of times ending up around 250th to 300th. And that was when I was in my prime. Now it would be wasted motion.

If I wasn’t too tied up a work I would do it for the experience with no  expectations.

I, too, would happily embarrass myself at the US Open if someone paid the entry fee.  But no need for place fare, $2.00 for gas will do it.  I live 8 miles from Fountain Bowl and 2 miles from the Anaheim Convention Center.  Anyone want to volunteer the $402.00?

Absolutely.  The only reason I'm not there is lack of vacation time.

As a self-employed computer programmer who isn't exactly rolling in dough, I couldn't afford to take the week off.  Vacation pay, what the hell is that?

I would walk there to do it.  I would not tell any of you bums though so that you would not get to laugh at me like those in attendance would.

Don't worry about embarrassing your self.  The squads just started.  After 2 games high is 490 (Barnes), low is 266, and 30th out of 120 is 401.  Low game I saw was 114 and it was a good amatuer that shot it.

I'd love to go---who wouldn't??? And as far as getting embarrassed in public in front of guys who do this for a living, as long as you give it your best then no one should really be worried about your score.
And if anyone would be stupid enough to laugh at you for going there and not doing well, then unless they've done it then they have no right to laugh at all.
