Urethane Arsenal
« on: December 24, 2011, 07:12:55 AM »
To piggyback off of the current available urethane equipment post, I have been contemplating heavily about completely converting to a urethane arsenal for league. I have struggled mightily trying to get some of my weaker resin equipment to not overhook on these ridiculously dry house shots. I currently have a hype urethane, slate blue gargoyle, and white dot that I have used effectively.

I guess I really have two questions:

1. Is this really feasible to do?

2. There seems to be a gap between the hype (very strong for urethane) and slate blue gargoyle. What would fit in there?

Moosin' ain't easy!

In terms of current urethane offerings, the two you mentioned pretty much bookend the hook spectrum. My best guess as to what would be in the middle would be the Grenade or the new Blue Hammer. My personal favorite is the Grenade, but the Blue Hammer is a little more versatile in that it works good polished as well as sanded.

As to question 1, your carry will suffer using urethane from inside angles, that's when a weaker resin ball might be necessary, even on a dry house shot.

Hope this helps you.

Based on your style and where you feel comfortable playing. I will consider giving you my Natural.

I'm in the process of trying to find out where I fit in the bowling world. I do not know my tech specs of my game, but it's all a learning process.
