Where do you find heavy oil??
« on: December 28, 2003, 10:56:18 PM »
I'm trying to see if I have a hole in my arsenal, but if all I ever bowl on are medium to crispy conditions, how do I know?  Where are these heavily oiled lanes so many of you find?  Do you have to bowl in tournaments to really see this?  I'd like to get to that level, but I'm definitely not ready for that yet......Another question, is there any benefit to a skid/flip-type ball compared to one that nicely arcs into the pocket when dealing with mainly medium conditions?

Plenty of oil to be had at DC West on Saturday  'course with 50-55 feet of snot, the ball was going where it was headed when it left the hand...even in the finals, it was rocket to the pocket and hope to carry.

To the basic question, the equipment you buy should be based on what you expect to see at some point in time.  It does you no good to have a "heavy oil" ball if you never bowl on heavy oil and are not bowling tournaments.  If you get to the point where you are travelling to bowl tournaments on unknown conditions, then start worrying about the need to add equipment.

What's this oil stuff people keep talking about?

At my home house it seems that they use that non-stick cooking spray...And only apply one coat for the whole week.

I know what you're talking about Cheez!!  The place I bowled last night is the same way.  I could barely keep my Burgundy Hammer in the 1-3, let alone my Sonic X.  Didn't even bother pulling the Truck out of the bag!!
