Title: Theory or Infinite Theory
Post by: psychodad on March 05, 2011, 09:06:20 AM
I posted this in the Roto Grip Forum but got no replies so I thought I would try here to see if I could get some advice.

I am trying to decide between these two balls. I am a low rev stroker looking for something to give me something to help compensate for my lack of revs. I have heard good things on both balls but cannot decide on which way to go. I figure I would throw this out and maybe someone else with lower revs has thrown either one of these balls and could give me some good input.

I absolutely love both...

I use the theory on synthetics and/or when there is heavy oil

I use the Infinite on wood lanes and/or when there is medium to light oil

my arsenal..

psychodad,

The main differences in these 2 balls is the coverstock and the finish. The base Theory is intended for heavier oil because of the solid cover and the dull finish. The Infinite is intended for less (but still failry heavy oil) because of the solid/pearl combination cover and the highly polished finished.

The fairly strong core and a decently strong drilling should definitely help lower rev bowlers but almost of of greater significance, for drilling and surface purposes, is your ball speed, PLUS how much oil you're bowling on. As long as it's (true)  medium or preferably slightly heavier oil, both Theorys can be used with the right surface. The solid would probably be better, as long as your ball speed is not less than medium speed. The slower the ball speed the more shine you'll need on the surface and the closer the Infinite might be to being the better choice. Because of all the factors involved, your personal driller might be the best person with whom to work out the details.
