I wonder if you would consider me one.

Here is the situation. My average was WAY down last year. Usually (at the most difficult center in my area) I am at about 217 or so. This year I was WAY down, 203. That average was still at the most difficult center in my area, but there was a huge difference this year. I am running the place now. It is not me working the desk, and nothing else. My duties each day were: Strip/oil the lanes, work the front desk, pin chase/fix the machines during league play, and play backup to the bartender if she got busy. On top of that I am the one that had to deal with the occasionaly spill and other spontaneous things.

The purpose of this post is that during league, I do not have time most of the time to focus. During practice.....on games when I am actually trying to score and have time to focus I average nearly 230.

WELL....I have bowled a few tournaments this summer with the 203 average, and I am killing it. When you have a guy averaging 203 shooting 720s-780s plus getting a few pins handicap, that is tough to beat.

SO...am I a sandbagger? I do not view myself as a sandbagger. During tournaments I have time to focus, I am not responsible for the machines breaking or balls getting stuck. Since I can take my time, I get to see every shot thrown I can notice and react quicker to lane changes and I have been doing very well lately.

Ex you should be flogged, boiled in crude oil (ooops, that would be too expensive), tied on a hill of red fire ants, drawn and quartered (hmmm, see if the "youngen's" know what that is), and much much more

Sandbagging is INTENTIONALLY establishing a lower average! Sounds to me you are just one that loves the sport! Oh, and one great person to deal with too!

And no, I would not consider that to be sandbagging.

How are you getting into tournaments without taking the highest book of the past 2 years? Most tournaments (sanctioned ones) require the 217 to be used. I might be wrong though.

Photoc, you are correct. This year I finished with 208. I totally forgot about this....the 02-03 season went by so fast for me because I did not really get to bowl much. I was working afternoon shift. I bowled one night a week and still had the duties of pin chaser, lane man, back up bartender etc... That is why that slipped my mind.

HOWEVER....they are using the 203. My concern is that I will be rerated after actually cashing out well in a few of these tournaments. I made the big money in brackets, but still have some decent money from prize money. Naturally my wife is taking all of the money. She says "I should get it, afterall, it was I that allowed you to go bowl".

Single men out there....don't think twice before getting married, think atleast 8 times. And if you end up married, I am sorry.

The key to the answer is in a simple statement; "If you were one, you would not have to ask others", as well as you would not be telling everyone how you do it!! I would not see you as one purely out of your apparent sincere desire to know if you are.
