I've also noticed the thin shells in almost every piece of new equipment.
For the experts out there: Are these thin shells used in order to fit the larger weight blocks or what?
Also, would a thinner shell be more prone to oil saturation (not absorption, but saturation) than a thick shell? After all, there is less area for the oil to go into. Does the filler material absorb oil? It seems like a thicker shell could absorb more oil before becoming completely "oil-logged".
Is any of this true or am I totally missing it?
